He wants to forget and sleep, but the memories keep him awake. He wants to shout his name out loud and hear the answer he was used to hear. That’s something that won’t happen anymore. ShiWon sighs almost unnoticeably as his fingers trace lines around the features of the young smiling man in the photograph. He throws it on the table; he whispers his name, “Yesung…” Burden on his shoulders weighs, and he sinks deeper, resting his head against the edge of the couch. A fool, that’s what he had been.
And that’s the positing his friend finds him an hour later, sprayed on the couch, eyes closed, fresh strains on the face left from the tears.
“And you call yourself strong, unaffectionate from such feelings as love,” Heechul stomps in, announcing his arrival by quoting Shiwon’s words of some months ago.
Shiwon’s eyes open wide, he turns his head at Heechul and confused as he was, asks, “How did you get in?”
Heechul stops to stand in the doorway and approaches ShiWon, settles himself on the couch besides ShiWon then answers, “you gave me a spare key yourself.”
When he sees the pictures of Yesung on the table, he lifts one eyebrow. “Oh that’s what you have been thinking and doing when I was practically going crazy over what happened with you.”
“Sorry, hyung.”
Heechul picks up the picture that’s on the top, the same ShiWon held as the last one in his hands, twists the picture between his fingers and thoughtfully adds, “He is pretty, isn’t he? He has that perfect aura of a person you could fall in love with. The face and the features, that sweet smile of his and all, isn’t that tempting? Don’t you want to touch it, feel it again?”
ShiWon sits up straight. He can’t stand HeeChul’s words anymore when it hurts, wounds bleeding from inside. “Hyung, stop it! You perfectly know what it is doing to me.”
“Do I?” Heechul turns at him; the face of his finally gets the seriousness on it. “Then stop fucking sit here and cry like a baby who just lost his favorite toy. Misery will eat you alive. Fight for him. Fight if you want this man so much.”
“How, hyung? I don’t even know where his family hides him now,” ShiWon says in despair. Fresh tears threaten to fall.
That’s the moment Heechul smiles, leans in like offering a worldwide secret soon to be revealed. “I know. I have got information from some old friends I keep in touch.”
---
ShiWon is nervous, walking back and forth in front of the building Heechul said he lives in. It has been long, so long since he saw him last time. He draws a long breathe and walks in for last, taking an elevator ‘till the fourth floor and the first door on the left is the right door, judging from the number on it.
He rings the bell, nervously looks around, strains his clothes and waits for the outdoor to open and reveal the person he wants to see so much.
When the door open, the person standing there gasps pretty loudly and whispers breathily, “ShiWon… oh my god…it’s you.”
ShiWon smiles almost dumbly, his heart pounds in his chest, threatening to fall out from al the joy mixed with a little bitterness. “It’s me,” he agrees.
Yesung grins, his eyes full of emotions, and within seconds he is in Shiwon’s embrace. He holds him tight, rests his head on Shiwon’s shoulder, and inhales his scent. Oh the reunion so sweet, yet bitter.
“Yesung, who’s there?” his sister’s shout from living room interrupts their moment.
They break apart from the embrace; ShiWon looks in his eyes wide eyed. Yesung whispers, “My sister…”
They stay like that for a brief moment while ShiWon thinks. “I’ll come back later…” ShiWon promises and Yesung nods disappoint appearing on his face. ShiWon walks away and down the stairs. Yesung follows him with his gaze until his sister starts to worry about his well being when he doesn’t answer any of her questions and walks in hallway. She shakes his shoulder, “are you okay?”
“Oh yes,” he smiles, a bit too wide and a little too bright to seem just okay, but that moment almost anything seems so okay.
“Who was there?”
“Wrong door. He had mixed three with four, isn’t that funny?”
“Oh yes,” she smiles along his faked laugh and they walk back in the living room.
Since then Yesung hard time to stay composed, throwing glances in the clock pretty much, and his fingertips nervously tap against the wooden table. His sister doesn’t seem to see these things; she continues to talk and doesn’t rush anywhere.
“Oh, it’s late,” lastly she stands up and hugs him tight, smiles encouragingly and says, “I’ll be going now. Be happy, you deserve it…” she grabs her bag and coat, walking out of the apartment, leaving stunned Yesung behind.
He smiles lastly, and with such a happy smile ShiWon meets him a bit later when he enters the apartment once again.
“How did you found out?” it is the question Yesung asks as the first, looking in Shiwon’s charming eyes. He hasn’t changed; Yesung notices his handsome features that are still able to make him melt.
“With a help of Heechul and he with a help of his friends, kind of long story,” ShiWon pulls him down on the couch, and he lands straight in his lap. “Couldn’t without you all this while,” he whispers, and Yesung feels needed, loved again. ShiWon keeps his arms firmly around his waist, doesn’t let him move at all. Their faces just a few inches away, their hearts beat, and once eyes lock, can’t break the gaze. Yesung initiates the kiss, leaning in. Their lips touch for long until lungs start to protest.
They talk later on and somewhere between sunset and sunrise, they decide to leave, to run away from there to where they can be together. They find a reason, to be together, to share everything they have. It is enough spontaneous to surprise, yet they don’t re-think.
They run out of the building in the darkness, hands clasped together with bags of luggage with them. It means new life apart from the one they had when they were separate from each other. It may be a start for something long lasting.
