Back to the countryside

Well, it's the school holidays and how can we not go to Ah Gong's house?! Made a short trip (3D2N) there over the weekdays.

The kids, especially Rei, had been asking to go to Ah Gong's plantation now and then. That boy simply enjoys "labouring" around the plantation.

This time round, Ah Ma gave him a small knife to "strip" the palm leaves off the stick in the centre (dunno what you call that). Though I had handed him a penknife twice (to carve the pomelo lantern), I was watching over him closely. But Ah Ma... ... tsk-tsk-tsk, she was really relaxed about handing him the knife after showing him once and letting him "work" on the leaves on his own. * Gasp *

Of course, Min wanted to use the knife too. But no way, I'm going to let her use it yet. She's still a little careless. So she ended up playing with "end products" of Rei's work.

During this short trip, Ah Gong and Ah Ma brought us to recce for a recreational trekking spot in Batu Pahat that they heard from others. Rei was SUPER excited about it and enthusiastic about going to the top. Too bad we arrived a little too late (after 4pm).

Next time, we are sure to conquer the "Bukit Timah Hill" of Batu Pahat (700m+)!
