2013 Year in Review : Music Edition

Little by little, I will clear my backlogs on What's Up, Toks? June ~ December happenings. And I am now onto our musical journey!!

The piano teacher

Really thankful to have have this teacher to teach the kids piano. Can't really say that she is the kind and gentle teacher who always conduct the lessons in a fun and enjoyable manner. But I truly appreciate her dedication in teaching the kids, her different teaching style for different kids (whom have different characters) and the oft selfless sharing of both piano stuffs and parenting stuffs. As much as we would like to pull out from SYT's perfectionist ideology, we shudder to think of what kind of teacher we can find to support us in this journey when out of the school. We just didn't have the courage to step out.

One of those sessions that we happen to get a studio with 2 grands.

So... ... we are still waiting to be kicked out, instead of opting out. =op

Piano practices

As much and frequent as we possibly can expose the kids to the fun and adventures that Mother Nature provides, work that needs to be done still has to be done. So, yes... piano practices are done almost daily (less 1 day break a week). For the sake of our own betterment, for the sake of making the most out of our investments (monetarily and time spent on traveling and lessons), and for the sake of not letting a dedicated teacher down.

Fortunately, the kids are fine with doing it. They will go to the piano to practice by themselves, without any nagging. Of course, I can't say the same for quality of practice. Oh well... can't have the best of all worlds.

All the practices contributed to a more enjoyable masterclass session and a satisfactory ABRSM examinations results. Kids are pleased with the fruit of their effort. Now, that is important.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

As usual, the kids picked up a christmas duet by themselves. They had much fun and laughter fooling around trying to make the playing entertaining. Ha... but in the end, they just did the recording in a serious manner. Camera shy!
