My hobby is cooking

I did not say that. My Girl did. And that was what she told her class when her teacher asked the kiddos about their parents' hobbies. I was shocked when she told me that. Yes, shocked. Seriously. My hobby? Cooking?? Oh man... this is so "un-cool"! Whatever happened to all the outdoorsy activities that I used to do?

Once upon a time, in a period of 10 years (from the first time I was introduced to outdoor activities to the time I became a mother), I had climbed Mount Kinabalu 4 times, Mount Ophir 4 times, Berkelah Falls 6 times, Gunung Stong, Gunung Rinjani, spent 1 month seeing India, traveled overland from Tibet to Nepal, etc.

Once upon a time, I used to swim x times a week, making used of my lunch breaks during my uni days and subsequently when I worked. Ok, fine, you got me here. Yes, I did not enjoy making small talks / gossips that's why I went swimming at those timings.

Seriously, I can't blame my Girl for thinking that my hobby is cooking. That's what she sees me do most of the time. But that is NOT my hobby!! It's an act of survival. It's a duty. Yes, it's my duty. Of course, at times I'll make the "duty" a little more fun for all.

My lunchbox!

"Chicken chop" rice bento & Fried rice bento.

Egg mayo sandwich, veg & mango pudding.

Yes, the Boy had been bringing lunchbox to school once or twice a week since week 2. The menu is usually requested by him, constrained by availability of ingredients at home. If not for the lunchboxes, he'd be having fried noodles for practically the whole of term 1. Ya, the un-adventurous Boy had been buying the same food every time. Haiz... ...

Anyway, to set the records straight, my dear kids... ...

1) My frequent, and at times fanciful, cooking are all because of both of you.
2) My "nice" voice (as how both of you put it) that you like to listen to when I read stories to you, is honed to be so by the two of you.
3) I had always been shy to sing out loud. Until the two of you came along.

So what's my hobby? My current hobby is to tend to the two munchkins that I am rearing.

kids' stuffs, food, school
