Probably a lot of film lovers like you guys have already heard of "We Need To Talk About Kevin" based on a novel by Lionel Shriver (2003)

I saw the trailer at the gym somewhile ago and eventhough I couldn't even hear the music or what they were talking about it still made me curious what is was about so I decided to look up where I could watch it. I found out it's out in a lot of arthouse movie theaters here in the NL.

After some stressfull weeks due the finals of my first semester I decided I should be rewarded with a lovely dinner and that movie. So I invited a friend to come along and we went to Amsterdam Pathé Tuschinski.

Review: So I won't spoil about the movie but I can tell you a bit about the things I liked. There are different "timezones" in the movie, like before, then and after. The technique of the movie was wonderful because they cut ever timezone in pieces and threw them together, but the passing from one timezone to another was subtle and simply well managed, sometimes it made you think one thing but after it showed another which actually confirmed what you were thinking, but then in a different context. Confused now? My advice is to just see the magic happen!
The storyline is quite intruiging and on a sidenote: I must say I really fell in love with Celie, Kevin's baby sister, she's adorable and really cheery!
Anyhow: the tension and the mystery of the story slowly builds up trough the movie which let's you think about and consider the things that happened and are going to happen. Then at the end ofcourse it sort of comes clear what happened, if you haven't guessed what happened.

I really recommand this movie to you because it's an interactive movie in a subtle way. I also liked Tilda Swenson in the movie, I know her from The Chronicels of Narnia in which she is an ice queen and I must say it was quite refreshing to see her in such a different role!

Definate must see!
