Day 26 - A movie that you love but everyone else hates

The A-Team, the movie (2010)
Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, "Rampage" Jackson and Sharlto Copley

A group of Irak War veterans are unjustly accused of a crime they didn't commit. They escape from prison and come up with a plan to clean up their names.

Although it's a different war (in the TV series they were Vietnam veterans,) the plot is basically the same. The names and characters keep their gimmicks and personalities as much as the actors allow. It's not the TV show, but comparing both premises back to back would be rather unfair. Times have change. Technology is more advanced and the characters have evolved since the 80's original.
Where I live, people barely remember Mr T or Howlin' Mad Murdock. So, I didn't have any open quarrel about a new version for the big screen. It was in the forums where I found hard core fans who refused to even see the movie once. Some who watched it hated it from the beginning. Others had to admit that it wasn't that bad.
I had to be very careful when I gave my opinion because I not just liked the movie, I developed a crush with the two characters that provoked more controversy.
As I see it, the movie is not that different from the 80's version. The characters are a little more flexible, though. Liam Neeson is a good Hannibal Smith. His presence is strong enough to see the legendary colonel coming back to life (cigars and all.) Bradley Cooper is the perfect successor of Dirk Benedict. Face is still a womanizer, con artist and overall nice guy. Maybe Bradley is more charming (yes, entre nous, he is much more better than Benedict.) Rampage Jackson doesn't fall far from Mr T as BA Baracus. He is strong, mean and rude, and as bad as an actor as the famous Mr T. Maybe the most difficult to cast was HM Murdock. This crazy pilot, originally played by Dwight Schultz, stole every scene he was in with his antiques an alter egos. The casting was a last minute choice. Sharlto Copley came from nowhere to be the main character in a low budget movie produced in South Africa, called District 9. Copley was producer and script writer, he basically improvises all his scenes in the movie. A-Team producers saw him and decided he would be a good match for Dwight Schultz flamboyant personality and they were not mistaken. Copley is perfect as a new Murdock. He doesn't add much to the character but keep his own style intact.
Even when the movie did good in box-office, my friends from the forums were outraged when I told them how much I liked it. You can't please everybody I guess...
