Candy Candy (1977) Animé series in 115 episodes of 25 minutes. 100% shojo.
This is the story of an orphan at the dawn of 20th century, her adventures, misadventures and all the soap-opera situations she can bear.
The series didn't make it to my country until the early 8Os. I was starting college by then and I thought I was immune to this kind of series already. I watched it once and I got hooked. I can't justify my reasons. I liked the story and followed the character's journey faithfully for over a year. I think most of college girls at that time did.
Candy Candy might not be the best example of anime, or a good animation but one look at the opening credits and I am transported to my happy place...
