So I got a call yesterday from one of the co-managers of the Gamestop near my house and he wanted me to come in for an interview today. I pointed out to him that I'm still interested, but that I'd be in London for study abroad from July 6th to August 6th which he was perfectly fine with since the new store opening out west of town isn't really supposed to be opened until August 7th (tentatively) but that's all subject to be pushed back. It's already been pushed back a few times so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets pushed back another week anyway.
Well the interview went really well and I think he wants to hire me, but he'll let me know for sure in a couple of weeks. He'll have to call the house and then my parents will relay the message to me via email or something. We'll see. On a funny note, when he asked me about a goal I've set for myself that I've met and what I've learned from it, I thought for a second or two and then used an example from an MMORPG I'm playing lately: FFXI. After I told him he had a look on his face as if he was thinking "If I hire this guy I'm really getting a gamer. He's definitely not faking it." Lol.
I found out something through the interview that I didn't know already about the job: employees get to check-out games to see what they're like to "better serve the customer". I can see this happening:
Me: Can I check out Halo 3?
Tony (the guy who interviewed me): No, it doesn't come out for another week.
Me: Well can I have Monday off? And Tuesday too?
Tony: NO! Monday's when it comes out, we're going to need you here to help deal with the onslaught.
Me: (*grumble grumble*) Fine, but don't be surprised if you catch me playing my copy on the display console during breaks....
