I got the packet for the British Studies Program from USM today for my month of study-abroad I'm doing for my IB major in July. My mom balked at the idea that I would need the $3000 dollars in spending money the program suggests (for food, transportation, entertainment). Two comments that stuck out to me the most were, "Why would you want to go to a [play] every night?" and "You've already been in Western Europe twice, why would you want to go back?" Ugh. Pray for my sanity, and perhaps a little compassion from my parents.
