Best of the Decade: 2000-2010

Nov 30, 2010 00:24

So here it is...the picspam I've been working on for a couple days now. I finished it all up today, it took me nearly 10 hours. I did almost nothing else all day. So I hope this is worth it. Since the decade is coming to a close, I wanted to do a kind of 'end of decade' post. You know how I've done those 'Best of 2009' or whatever posts? Well I'm doing one for the best of the decade. The decade was FULL of amazing stuff, especially 2009 so I had to really limit it to only the things I practically worshiped. This post is probably safe for work, but not dial-up friendly.

What qualifies for the decade?
Aside from the people (which I explained once you get there), anything that was released in the time frame of 2000-2010. So for example I love Home Movies, a show that started in 1999. Yes it ran into the 2000's BUT it's not when it started so I didn't include it. Make sense? :)

I'm gonna try my best to put things in order (first image posted being my #1) but I can't guarantee anything. There's so much epic amazing stuff here, I make no promises. :)

Musicians
Sugababes

These are my girls. I have loved every album, every line-up change, and every single one of these girls. They really can't do anything wrong in my eyes. I just kinda hate their name, it makes them sound childish and these girls are anything but. Don't be put off by the name srsly, these girls are <3
Never Gonna Dance Again (fyi the best song in the world)

Nadia Ali

I found about her randomly, I don't even think I remember. I just know I saw her album, and I judged a book by its cover and downloaded it. And let me say that was the best blind download I've ever done. My love for this girl has grown SO much. I'm loving the electronic genre lately and that is largely in part thanks to her. She's got a flawless voice.
Triangle

Kid Cudi

I became a fan of his merely by accident. I remember hearing about him punching a fan at a concert (long story...look it up if you're curious) and I watched the video since I was curious. I had never heard of him before so I clicked on a related video (which happened to be his song Man on the Moon The Anthem) and it wasn't what I was expecting at all. Since then I became hooked. It sounds SO awful to say this, but I'm drawn to his depression. It's obvious he has it and it comes across loud and clear in his lyrics. It's a far cry from the typical rap/hip hop that is out these days.
Scott Mescudi vs. the World

A Perfect Circle

If you were to look at my Last.fm, when you came across these guys on the first page of my overall artists you'd likely be surprised. I definitely have a type and they certainly don't fit it. But I've been a fan from the start. Back in my "rock" phase, I gained a love for them that will never disappear.
(And yes I know I'm technically cheating with them since they were formed in 1999 BUT they released their first album in 2000 so I'm going by that :P)
Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the War Drums (hottest song ever y/y? I'm determined to have hot passionate sex to it someday)

Billy Talent

I've known about these guys since they came out (I had a Canadian friend who loved them) but I never gave them a listen until just earlier this year. Love, love, love. Again, they aren't my typical kind of music but the lyrics of BTIII alone are enough to make someone a fan.
Diamond on a Landmine (one of my favorite songs ever)

Frankmusik

I was listening to a Sam Sparro song on Youtube, when a link came up on the video to check out his co-tour mate Frankmusik. I ignored it, then next thing I know I had accidentally clicked on it and came upon a song so catchy I couldn't stop listening. I danced my heart out to "3 Words" for hours (literally!). Anyone who can get me that lively deserves a mention. His debut album is pop perfection. No bad song on it.
Vacant Heart

Kenna

I saw Kenna live when he was on tour with Dave Gahan. He was so lively and friendly and talented I just had to get his album. I was not disappointed. His music is some of the most unique and beautiful stuff I've ever heard. Since him, I always trust the tour mates that DM chooses.
Hell Bent

Annie

I had heard "I Know Ur Girlfriend Hates Me" years ago when it first came out. I liked the song, but not enough to check out any more of her stuff. I would come to regret that a year or so later when I finally caved and downloaded. She is certainly a very unique pop singer. If she were the face of pop music as a whole, people would not be so quick to judge the genre. Yet she is a little weird...but so is Lady Gaga and she's massive.
My Love is Better

Movies
The Descent

Favorite horror movie ever, 2nd favorite movie ever. Seriously, there is NOTHING wrong with this piece of art at all. I wish to God they hadn't made a sequel though. The one thing wrong with the horror genre is that they have to ruin masterpieces with sequels. The first was perfect enough as it is, why more?! (I'm looking at you too Halloween, Scream, & ANOES.)

Saw

The biggest mindfuck in the world. Yes, my mind was fucked when the end of this movie came around and it was the best sex I've ever had. Mmmm <3

Brick

This was my 2nd favorite movie of all-time for the longest time. It's moved down a bit but that doesn't mean I love it any less. Brendan is my favorite movie character ever, and I will never ever let this movie out of my heart by any means.

Dreamland

This is the most visually stunning movie I've ever seen, hands down. The cinematography is phenomenal. I think without the beautiful setting & Agnes, the movie would be mediocre at best. The story is nothing new or original but the way it is filmed certainly is. Must watch, you will become a fan of Agnes immediately :D

Triangle

First time I saw this movie, I didn't get it so I didn't like it. I had to watch it a second time because I had to cap MGeorge <3, I liked it slightly more after that. The third time I watched it I was showing it to my dad since I wanted his take on the whole thing, I liked more after that. By my 4th time watching it, it moved into my top 10 movies of all time. I cannot get enough of it. Each time I watch it, I see something new and it is just perfect. This is certainly a movie for intellectuals (I wonder why this retard loves it!). :P Not a popcorn movie, if you want something that will make you question things for days or weeks on end, this is the movie for you.

Sunshine

I find myself thinking about this movie almost constantly lately. Not completely sure why, maybe deep down I want to sacrifice myself to save the sun but the more I think about this movie, the more wonderful it becomes to me. It leaves me breathless, and ROSE & CHRIS <3

My Bloody Valentine 3D

I saw this in theaters and fell in love with it. I can watch this idk how many times and never get sick of it. It's not the "best" horror by any means at all, but it's certainly a shit load of fun and Jensen? Not too bad to look at :P

Quantum of Solace

I'm not a James Bond fan, never have been and I don't think I ever will be. I have no intention of seeing the other movies and the only reason I got this one is for Olga Kurylenko since I had a small obsession with her awhile back. I watched the movie one day to cap her and I was mesmerized. This is a damn good movie and I have to admit DC kicks some major ass as Bond.

Wicker Park

Another Rose movie, this was actually my first of hers. I became a fan after I saw it, I just love her in everything she does and I adore her character in this. This is the ultimate stalker movie to end all stalker movies. So beautiful & tragic. Poor Alex :(

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

The best and most well-made horror remake ever. I know a lot of fans would agree. The atmosphere of this is perfect, and while I'm not a JBiel fan, I though she was solid in this movie. Plus you just can't beat the pretty scenery. Pretty + gore = my dream :D I can't also forget to mention my love for Jonathan Tucker, Erica Leerhsen, & Eric Balfour. In the same movie! <3

3:10 to Yuma

I'm not a fan of westerns, and I had incredibly low expectations for this. The only reason I even considered buying it was for BFoster (whom I practically worship), and imagine my surprise when I started getting into it. I can openly admit that even without Ben, this would be a really good movie. Russell and Christian both do wonderful jobs too but the star of the movie is easily Ben (isn't he the star of every movie he's in? :D). He should have gotten an Oscar nom for this, it's a crime that he didn't.

The Invisible

This is such a hidden gem. It's rare to find people who have heard of it, let alone seen it and actually like it. It's a bit different but it's so amazing and Justin Chatwin is such a cutie. Plus there's a rugged looking Alex O'Loughlin and y'know I wasn't complaining. :) He's pretty dreamy.

The Collector

This movie had been hyped for ages, I saw it in Wal-Mart for $10 and bought it but it never caught my interest enough to actually watch it (yes I know I'm bad). When I did, I saw the hype. It is non-stop pulse-racing action. If you're a Saw buff like moi and you love the traps, I highly recommend this movie. You have to suspend a little disbelief of course but it's worth it I promise.

Sin City

This movie is definitely overrated but it's one of those overrated things that deserves the hype. Deadly Little Miho alone could carry the movie by herself, talk about BAMF!

Eden Lake

I don't think I could actually sit through this movie again, but it is SO well done. For what it is trying to do to the audience, it succeeds in masterfully. I will never forget the things I saw in this movie for as long as I live. And for that alone it deserves a mention. Very very powerful movie.

People

Okay I'm cheating a little here. These all aren't people I discovered in the past decade...that list would be like 2 people only. And besides, a list without JLH, Kiefer, & Ben as my favorite people is unspeakable!

The 24 Cast

Yes this deserves a bigger graphic than all the rest. Why? Look at them! They're so perfect and precious. I love my cast sfm, and I freaking love how devoted they are to the show. Annie & Kiefer, I'm talking to you specifically! :D

Kiefer motherfucking Sutherland

*is now dead* I'm 183% positive he is perfect. He cannot and will not ever do anything wrong in my eyes. No other man in the universe could wear a dress on live television and look as badass as he did. The end. Oh and I want to have his babies. The end again.

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Okay so she's my favorite person ever. She is one of my top 3 people who I look at through rose-colored glasses. She is so so so fucking pretty and she has the most amazing smile I've ever seen. When she laughs, you laugh. When she cries, you cry. (Or maybe that's just me since I'm so attached to her.) But seriously, I will always & forever support this girl. 14 years going strong, I'm her #1 fan.

Ben Foster

Would I be a floozy if I also said I wanted to have his babies? He just oozes sex appeal and to top it all off, he's a phenomenal actor. He makes every movie that he's in just so much fun to watch and not *just* for eye candy purposes. Take Alpha Dog for example, that piece of shit movie would otherwise have been thrown in my trash by now but Ben just has to go and be all BAMF-like in it. Sometimes I'll even just watch his scenes on Youtube and then get distracted....because it's hot. And yeah I hate to brag but he's another 14 years going strong. Love him.

Brittany Murphy

I'm all sad now. There's nothing I can say about this girl that hasn't already been said. She was gone way before her time, and I wish she knew that I loved her (I know it's lame but give me a break!). RIP BB. Long live your amazing work.

Rose Byrne

I love Rose. She's funny, talented, super pretty, and yet super skinny (gain some weight bb!) But anyway, yeah Damages I LOVE. She didn't get nominated for an Emmy for that by mistake. I just love her personality and every role she chooses to be in is so perfect for her. I'm waiting to see her in Get Him to the Greek. It is SO unlike Rose which I'm eager to see.

Agnes Bruckner

Love Agnes and love every movie she's been in that I've seen. She makes a movie worthwhile. And she's got amazing tattoos, and seems like a really cool girl. I don't believe for a second that she's anything less than amazing in real life.

Jason Statham

You guys, I'm pretty sure I have a type. And that type is alpha male. Kiefer, Ben, & Jason certainly fit the criteria. I want a man that could manhandle me and I love the kickass types. Jason happens to have a wonderful personality to match his wonderful face and accent. Yeah I don't normally like accents but his I adore. And he's so funny. Just watch an interview with him and you'll see :)

Melissa George

I really don't know what to say about her which I feel bad about since I over-talked about everyone else. It doesn't mean I don't love her, I think she's fabulous. But...yeah. She's fabulous :D

Elisha Cuthbert

I've been a fan of Elisha's since 24, and I loved to see her branch out into movies. She's really not the best actress out there but I absolutely love her. She WAS really good in The Quiet though. Plus she's chill irl :) I assume anyway.

Television
24

My life, my reason for living. I don't care how that makes me sound but this show has saved me in so many ways possible. I am the show's biggest fan in the world and I dare anyone to challenge me on that. It is the most perfect and wonderful thing to ever grace my life. THANK YOU EVERYONE INVOLVED FOR MAKING MY LIFE BETTER! I'm dead serious too.

Damages

OH. MY. GOD. This is the most perfect drama (24 doesn't count it's an action drama!) in the world, out of everything...movies too. The first season is quite honestly the best thing I've ever seen. How they do it, I'll never know. But my God, I am infatuated with this show.

Ghost Whisperer

My bias aside, this is a really good show. Why they chose to keep Medium on the air but not THIS is way beyond my grasp. I admit, it went downhill in the last season. But seasons 1-3 are incredible. This show is the perfect mix of creepy and endearing. Melinda & Jim are my OTP, and while they don't have any competition for cutest couple ever, I still love them to death. I want what they have.

Nip/Tuck

God, what a bunch of weirdos this show has...but what a bunch of lovable weirdos. Seriously, I've never seen a show with more unique & quirky characters as this. Ryan Murphy, how can you be the same guy who made Glee? *shudders* I adore this show to death, it's so underrated.

Community

Best show on television right now (until Damages comes back on DirecTV :D :D :D). I was a fan of Joel before the show started and it looked interesting enough for me to give it a shot. I'm glad I did, it's a true gem. And Britta, I LOVE YOU <3

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles

Shamefully enough, I only just now got into this show. I bought season 2 on Black Friday this year and finally had to watch it. It is exactly my kinda show. Action, pretty people, guns, more guns, action :D Oh and the pretty people shooting guns. Yeah, definitely my type. I love it.

The Whitest Kids U Know

I heard about them through Miss March. I'm normally not into the kind of humor that they do (they do a lot of amateur jokes and ones that diss the army/America) but they DO have a lot of intelligent humor that makes up for that. And I'm kinda falling for Zach Cregger, and especially the way he yells and says SON OF A BITCH! It's enough to make a girl swoon :D

Dead Like Me

This show isn't anything like what I expected. The characters are three dimensional and there are so many layers to them, each of them interesting. You can't help but get emotionally involved with them immediately and wish to see the best for them. Such a fun and heartwarming show.

All caps for images were taken by me except Dead Like Me, which I got here & 3:10 to Yuma which I got here. My DVD's weren't working :(

Alright carpal tunnel, bring it on :(
