Night is night
In spite of the fingers that fondle the sky,
Turning stars to dust in the sterile light.
Eye for eye
They find trails left by decaying mouths belching tar,
Hiding dew beneath burnt skin, bronzed with dye.
Tear upon tear
the fear washes life from tired brown wires,
Dragging scars along skins of bodies huddled near.
Blow upon Blow
We know the world shines between the wounds,
Still the hammer falls over a blanket of August snow.

There was a stone beneath my bed.
At night it glowed bright,
It glowed red
When the moon tucks behind the Earth
The stone speaks in feline tones,
Howls that wear at my heart,
Driving to my bones,
Eating marrow,
Crying out,
They want
Us.
Forget,
I just can't
I can't seen them
Lurking 'round the posts
I feel breath on my neck,
Finger tracing the quilting.
Gravel spreads across my throat
It glowed red,
Crimson in the mirror
There is a stone within my head

I've always hated clocks,
The way they tick and they way they rhyme with tock
The constant pressure to fulfill my roles
From the eyes of that bird peering into mine.
The day it stopped I cried for hours
I filled pitchers with champagne and vases with flowers
In my bubbly haze I revel in silence
Yet,
I hear the tick-tock in steady defiance
Surging to the shed I grabbed a sledge hammer
Then,
Steel meting glass, my smile reflected in the shatter
Planks and bevel melting to splinters and dust
My head to clear with the blood lust
Still in the cloud of wooden debris
The sound I hate most thundered through me
My whole flesh throbbed along with the beat
Tripping through doors I fled in retreat
I could not escape, it ticked away inside
Yet,
I knew where it was, it could not hide
Shirt rips down the middle I claw at my chest
Turning white skin to a pulpy red mess
But I couldn't get deep enough
Fast enough,
The blade that I found burned cold in my palm
And I was overcome by a ravenous calm
As the knife snuck past flesh into stubborn gears
I bleed between perfect teeth in a perfect smile
Pink bubbles catching in the sun with the laughter of a child.
