Fran and I took a drive up to Reading, PA to visit the
Postsecret exhibit before it closes on October 8. We drove around the little town and stumbled on
Viva Good Life Bistro and Lounge where we ate brunch. Our waiter Richard was delightfully swishy and seemed to enjoy Fran asking him, "Do you need to see my ID?" when she ordered a glass of milk. "Let me guess, it's your 21st birthday!" was his reply. A jazz band played standards while we munched away. The exhibit itself was so moving that I plan to send in some cards of my own.
In other news, I just saw a naked woman traveling down Independence Avenue. She was a little larger than lifesize, bronze, and perched atop a rolling cart pushed by 4 people in front of the
Hirshhorn Museum. After asking the internet, I discovered that the sculptor is Aristide Maillol (French, 1861-1944) and the title of the piece is
Action in Chains: Monument to Louis-Auguste Blanqui, cast 1969.
I wonder where she was going...
