Title: The Missing One (Sequel to “When One Goes Missing”)
Chapters: One-shot
Genre: Sorrow
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Hey! Say! JUMP friendship
Disclaimer: DO NOT OWN!
Summary: He didn’t show, he didn’t call. After such a mess of the country they pray for his safety.
Author’s Note: I know they are all rumours at the moment for the earthquake but that didn’t matter to me because it made for a great story. And if they turn out to be true then that’s truly sad but if not then a celebratory fic will be on its way, either way, a sequel fic will follow when the truth is revealed. Until then enjoy.

Cleanup continues to happen and they tried their hardest not to think of him, why didn’t he call? What happened? Why isn’t he answering their millions texts, emails and calls? He’s fine right? That’s the answer; yes it’s got to be.

Another quake hits us, this one weaker but still strong enough to reach a 6, scary thought, knowing he’s still out there and wave after wave of aftershocks hit us. It’s scary as we help with the clean up and safety of all those who have been affected, even Hikaru who was most effected helps out. He no longer has a home but that doesn’t stop us from worrying about him. And it doesn’t stop him from worry about others. He’s kind and trying his hardest to be strong for both his family and our missing friend. He’s trying but I think I’m the only one who could see the truth.

Day breaks here and as promised we meet back in the spot. He’s going to come today. I’m sure of it. There’s no way he couldn’t have, yes there’s thousands of people missing but I barely knew them, yes they could be my fans but this is my best friend! We’ve been together for so long! He can’t be gone, he just can’t!

Yama-chan is here now, I apologize for yelling at him yesterday and he takes it in stride, brushing it off like it never happened. Daiki tells me that we were all just heated up from worrying about our friend and the others are just cool with waiting in silence. Yuto picks at a bug on the picnic table and Yuya hides behind the closest person to him (Yama-chan). “Stupid bug” he mumbles which brings a smile to everyone’s face.

Hikaru hasn’t come yet, he’s too busy with his family but he’s within texting range so it doesn’t bother us much. We can still contact him. The morning is cold and a slight fog has rolled in out of nowhere, it’s making me angry, I can’t see over the horizon for the one person I’ve been waiting to hear from.

A gasp from Chinen makes me look at him, but it’s what’s past me that he’s looking at us, someone was coming this way. Closer and closer until a definite figure of a man came closer, but unfortunately they walked right past us. I fight the urge to punch Chinen in the face, how dare he get my hopes up like that!

Another figure comes towards us, but it’s not the one I want to see at that particular moment, I was happy though that Ryutaro was safe though, even if he were only coming now. “Sorry guys had to stay back a bit, the aftershock spooked mother a bit.” Ryutaro laughs sheepishly. I knew he didn’t want to laugh but that’s all he could do at that moment. And again I fought the urge to punch him. This wasn’t a laughing situation! JUMP could be gone! It could be over! It could be perfectly fine but that didn’t occur to me at that moment, all I wanted was to hear the voice of one of my best friends. I needed to hear his voice, I needed him to say goodnight to me last night but he never picked up.

The sound of a phone snapping shut catches me out of my weird trance. My head had been resting on my palms so when I jolted they stung a bit. It was Takaki; he was taking his turn calling him, and again nothing. “Nothing, again! I tried all night!”

“We all did Yuya,” Daiki says softly to our friend.

“I don’t think I got any sleep last night!” Keito says with an angry tone. “Don’t get me wrong I’m worried for him too but those damn aftershocks were just, just, horrible!”

“I know what you mean,” Chinen responds to him, he’s the only one who does, the rest of us just nod.

There are eight of us now, with Hikaru in spirit, but we didn’t have time to miss him because we received text messages from him every few minutes or so. He was in a bad area with tons of people, in an arena that he should only be in to perform!

“We should just go to him!” I shout out of nowhere. I receive seven strange looks because that was apparently not the topic of conversation at the moment.

“We don’t know where he is at the moment,” Yuto says as his bug flies away, he’s now joined the conversation, apparently it was about food.

A few minutes pass and the conversation dies down, the fog is clearing a bit with the sun but that wasn’t enough to lift my spirits of what happened. The others were still talking but it was mostly murmuring to me, my eyes were strained on the horizon, but I knew when they stopped talking completely because only the sound of the birds could be heard.

And then I heard it. “Where’s Hikaru?” my head shot up so fast I almost got whiplash, he was here! My friend, our Kei was here! And he was asking for Hikaru? What? “You guys?” he asks us but we’re in too much of a shock, Kei’s perfectly fine! Almost too perfect in fact, for not being able to contact us in several hours.

“Where the fuck have you been!?” I almost yell at him.

“Sorry, I lost my cell phone and then I was helping people around me, you know do a good deed or so, I didn’t mean to not meet you yesterday, oh my gosh Yuto what happened to you? Were you injured?”

“Yeah but I’m good now, just sore.”

I fight back the urge to punch my best friend in the face instead I count to 40 before I tackle him to the ground. He and everyone else was shocked but I didn’t care at that moment. “Don’t Ever Do That To Us Again!” I yell at him whilst still on top of him, he’s fighting to get me off but I wasn’t about to let it happen.

“Hikaru says get off of Kei,” Daiki says after a minute and then holds his phone to my ear.

“Yes I’m aware of what I’m doing.... yes I know we’re in a public park....there’s no one here, it’s not going to matter....oh whatever, he deserved it....no it wouldn’t have been necessary...oh please you would have done...no....c’mon.... kill joy... yeah I said it.... okay bye.”

I received several strange looks from the people around me including the one I was on but it didn’t matter because at that moment I was thrown to the ground, Kei obviously taking his chance to get up. “Idiot.” Kei says as he pulls me from the ground. I’m kind of stunned at the moment, but it didn’t matter. He was back. My wish came true. And it was now time to go help everyone else.

Kei slung his arm around my neck as the nine of us walked to the stadium to help. We’d do whatever we can to help those, even if it was only just to raise their spirits a bit.

It didn’t matter now.

We were together.

We could continue together.

As a whole.

The ten of us.
