Author's Note: This may be pretty sad, it seems I’m very good at writing stories that make people cry, but seeing as my life is very depressing at the moment it fits right in. This is dedicated to my friend Jasmine (

Chapter 8: At Last, the Story.
Standing in front of him was his long time no see, very old best friend, Arioka Daiki.
“But, but, but I thought you were dead,” Inoo stuttered.
“No I’m here, not dead, I’m in the flesh, I’m here Kei-chan, and I finally found you, like I said we looked for you for years actually, eventually we just stopped, we no longer bothered because we wouldn’t find you and to think you were just a town away. We didn’t broaden our search enough.”
“Apparently, but here I’ve been, here I’ve stayed, away from those I never wanted to see and from those I couldn’t live without, I felt it was best to leave especially since what had happened.”
“What do you mean? Do you blame yourself for the breakup of Hey! Say! JUMP?” Daiki asked. “It wasn’t your fault you know, it was just something that happened and nothing was right once you had left. I mean we dealt with it but nothing sounded the same, we were a different people.”
“I know, and I have everything you guys have ever done, even after… it happened.”
“You can’t say it, can you?”
“Nope, never again.”
“Kei-chan, no one really knows what happened the night we lost~”
“Don’t say his name!” Inoo hissed.
But Daiki continued, “Him, no one but you and well him, can you tell me? It may help get it off your chest and you may even be able to move on. I think it is the reason why your daughter-in-law sought me out, do you blame yourself for it?”
“No I don’t blame myself for it because I caused it!”
“Tell me.” Daiki demanded, although it should have been a question, it wasn’t, Daiki wasn’t going to leave and he didn’t have the restrictions that the children had.
“Why do you want to know? He’s dead and it’s my fault.”
“Tell me anyways,” Daiki demanded. “Everything and from the beginning.”
“Fine, you remember the fight that he and I had right? I wanted him to meet my friend then he went ballistic and stormed out where I became the marshmallow on the floor.”
“Yes I remember, not completely but it’s a vague memory, what about it?”
“That was the start of our downfall.” Inoo said softly, his voice was lowered because it was hard to say out loud but he tried his best and his best friend was going to help him this time. “He and I had been fighting for awhile before the big one in the dressing room. You see I had made a promise to Ko-chan, that if I started a relationship with…”
“It’s okay, you can say his name.”
“If I had started a relationship with…Yuto, then I wouldn’t let it cause a rift in the group like it had for KAT-TUN, I believe you remember the story and I don’t need to fill you in on that, well, I broke my promise with Yabu early on for the fact that Yu-Yuto and I could not agree on most things and we ended up bickering. We couldn’t communicate properly so I had started spending more and more time with my university friends, you remember that time right, I wouldn’t hang out with anyone, not even you and yes I’m sorry for that but clearly you’re not here to apologize, you’re here for the truth. Well anyways, my one friend, who would soon be the girl I marry, was a huge fan of Yu-Yuto, as well as mine, and more than anything she wanted to meet him in person so I said I’d ask him, at that point in time she had no idea of our relationship and she didn’t question when I talked non-stop about him and JUMP because she was a fan too. Well anyways, I started telling her things that I hadn’t even told him, or anybody for that matter, she knew that I had loved him as more than a friend and brother and she didn’t judge either so that made me even more excited to introduce her to him.”
“I remember that day, when you asked him to meet your friend and then he completely blew it out of proportion thinking that he was boring and that you wanted to be with her instead.”
“Exactly, after he stormed out of the room I remember you, Yama-chan and Chi-kun run after him but I don’t remember much else until Yabu came and talked to me, I remember clearly that I wasn’t crying because it was no longer necessary, somewhere along the way I realized crying does nothing so I no longer cried, actually I haven’t cried since the incident and even then I didn’t cry all that much. You must think I’m heartless.”
“Not at all, it’s quite logical, though it does explain why you didn’t cry at the funeral. We thought you were just in shock and that the emotions would come later but it wasn’t a week later when we never saw you again,” Daiki said sadly.
“I had asked Johnny-san to not tell anybody where I was going, nobody realized that I no longer lived at home and my parents had specific orders to send everything back to sender as well I moved into the university dorms to focus completely on my studies.”
“But you still left us, I should be so mad at you but I’m not, I’m over worrying about you, but because my daughter asked me to come, I’m here, I’m not saying that I don’t enjoy knowing that you are alive and well but I’m still afraid you’ll leave me again, just as many of us already have.”
“Many of us? Who’s us?”
“I don’t think I should say. It’s another story for another time. Now stop stalling and tell me already.”
“Fine. To make it up to Yuto, I brought him to dinner, it was this super fancy place that you had to wear formal clothing and the food was super expensive. It was also our seven month anniversary to it was a special day too. I couldn’t believe that we had been fighting so much but I truly thought that we’d be able to settle it just for that one night. Well I had forgotten that my friend really loved that place, so much in fact that when she suggested it to me I didn’t think anything of it. In fact it was her place of employment, she had told me this place in hopes that I would bring him on her shift, I didn’t know then that she worked there so at first it was completely innocent,” Inoo explained softly.
“Things went so smoothly that night, after work of him not talking to me at all, I showed up at his house knowing full well of my plans for that night, Yuto was ready and waiting for me at the door so that he didn’t have to explain anything to his family, he met me outside and we continued on our way. At first we went to the park, we swung on the swings just enjoying the time together. He started to talk to me throughout that night. More and more, I got him to say words to me. He was still mad with me you see but I’m sure he knew how much this date meant to me as well as his self so he tried to make the best of it, at least that’s what I was hoping for.”
“The night was so special to the both of us; we were having such a great time. And even when I brought him to the fancy place he didn’t complain or say anything against it. I was so happy that I had no idea it was all going to blow up in my face.”
“How could you have known Kei-chan?” Daiki asked sincerely, “You’re blaming yourself for things that girl had put in motion, that’s not your fault.”
Inoo just smiled but continued his story “When we walked in, we were seated by this nice young man, probably around our age then, he was kind and polite to us so we didn’t think anything of it until he said that she would be our waitress, and that was when it started. I hadn’t told Yuto her name so he didn’t realize that anything was wrong. At first we made small talk since it was a busy night and then she came by. ‘Can I get you guys anything to drink?’ she said to us, it is as clear as day in my memory, I recognized her immediately but Yuto just gave her our drink order for I was too dumbstruck to speak.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Are you okay Kei-chan?” Yuto asked his partner.
“I’m fine, sorry; I should have ordered this is my treat to you.” Inoo apologized after breaking out of his daze.
“Its fine, it’s just a couple of drinks right, it’s not like this is a trick or something,” Yuto joked. Inoo laughed along making Yuto believe that he was in fact just joking.
When the waitress came back with their order, Yuto gave her their food order and she was brushed off once again. Yuto and Inoo once again made loving small talk; Yuto was finally coming around until the food came. A half hour later she returned with their food, she placed them properly to each person and then she gestured to Inoo knowingly, “Inoo-kun, shouldn’t you introduce me?”
“Oh I’m sorry, Yuto, this is my friend from University, the one I was telling you about,” Inoo said softly, all the while he was praying that Yuto wouldn’t be mad, he was wrong, Yuto was fuming but he wouldn’t let the new person know that. Yuto made have been a jokester but he still had some class, especially in a fancy restaurant such as this.
“Hello, it’s nice to meet you,” Yuto greeted politely and then turned into his food.
“I’m sorry, I will see you at school alright, we’re sort of in the middle of something here, I’m trying to apologize for something and this isn’t helping. Please forgive me.”
“Of course Inoo-kun, no worries, I’ll return later to clear your plates and give you your bill.”
“Thanks,” Inoo responded and then she was gone. Inoo immediately threw his face into his food. He was afraid to look at Yuto now, for he knew that the younger would be angry but he didn’t want to know exactly how much. Half way through Inoo’s meal he gave Yuto a slight look, the younger was still eating but he was also glaring daggers into the older’s skull. “I’m so sorry Yuto please forgive me,” Inoo got the courage to speak.
“I don’t know if I should,” Yuto answered shortly.
“I didn’t do it on purpose,” Inoo tried.
“You tricked me,” Yuto retorted.
“I didn’t know she’d be here, honestly,” Inoo tried. “Please believe me, when she told me about this place I didn’t know she was employed here.”
“Then how else would that girl know about it? Use your brain. Finish your food and take me home.”
“I know she knew a lot of fancy places, I had no idea that the one I chose would be the one she worked at. Please you have to believe me. I’m so sorry.”
“Just finish already or I’ll leave without you,” Yuto told him angrily. Inoo shovelled the rest of his plate into his mouth, not caring at how much it was against the restaurant code and then ushered over the one person Yuto didn’t want to meet. Wordlessly, she cleared the plates and then brought the bill against wordlessly Inoo paid for it and they were free to leave.
Yuto rushed out of the building not caring to wait for Inoo who was walking casually. Yuto rushed away from him but Inoo followed, Yuto would forgive him right? It was an accident, a mistake, why wouldn’t there be a reason why he wouldn’t forgive me. “You know I’m sorry right?” Inoo tried.
Yuto stopped dead in his tracks. “I trusted you, with all of my being, you lied to me, you tricked me, and even yet you still introduced me to that girl. Why would you do it?”
“Because I didn’t know she’d be there!”
“You don’t get it, I didn’t want to meet your other half ever, you don’t get it, you never will,” Yuto snapped. Inoo started to realize it just then, but he wasn’t about to admit it to his lover. Tonight was supposed to be special; it wasn’t supposed to be the beginning of the end.
But no, to make it worse, the night sky started to darken, the clouds started to roll in and the rain started to fall. It wasn’t just any rain though, not a drizzle or spitting like it usually starts with but a torrential rain that made it very hard to see. The weather never called for this, especially since Inoo had checked it just before he went to pick Yuto up. “Then you have to explain it to me,” Inoo said pulling out his umbrella, which he just happened to have, he walked over to the younger and placed over top of him, “I love you Yuto Nakajima, do you not understand that? Even though we argue and fight everyday you always believe me and forgive me, it’s so pathetic that we don’t trust each other right away, why are you always running?”
“I’m not the one who’s running Inoo-kun.” Yuto said harshly. “I can’t forgive you this time, and no I’m not sorry for it.”
Inoo stopped, he had promised himself he wasn’t going to cry, he was being broken up with he just knew it, he just had to wait for the words to come out of the younger’s mouth. “Just say it then.”
“Say what?” Yuto asked. “To break up with you? Is that what you’re waiting for? So you can go be with that woman? Is that it? You really don’t know me at all. Why would I give up the one thing I want the most in my life?”
“But that’s what you want right? You can’t trust me and you won’t forgive me so where does that lead to? Nowhere.”
“You still don’t get it,” Yuto answered, “just, never mind, I’m going home, co-worker.” and with that, Yuto stepped out from under the umbrella and took off running in the torrential downpour of the night. Inoo stood there waiting for him to look back to turn around something, but it never came, Yuto never stopped, he ran through the crosswalk of a red light and kept running. Even if they hadn’t said it then, they were officially broken up, Inoo was not going to cry though, tears only brought pity, pity was not something he needed right now, right now he needed a friend.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, wait a minute; he broke up with you because he didn’t want to meet a girl?” Daiki asked confused.
“Yes that’s exactly how it happened, it’s not the cheesiest breakup in history, but it’s still up there and I’m sure the rain was just added into my memory to make it more dramatic, either way, he ran home from me, and I never saw him again.
“Those were the last words he said to anybody?” Daiki asked. “I mean I knew he never made it home that night since that was when he passed on, but really, that’s how it happened?”
“Yup, pretty much, the last meal he ever had, the last night he ever spent, and I ruined it, I got him killed!”
“You did no such thing, like you said it was night time, it was raining and he was angry, that combination alone would have called for something to happen, don’t you think? You have to realistic here.”
“I don’t want to be realistic Dai-chan, I want to go back in time and change that day.”
“You can’t, you can only move forward with what happened, believe me. Have you told anybody that story before?”
“No, you’re the first and last.” Inoo said softly and then put his head on his friend’s shoulder. Daiki embraced his friend and gave him the most love that he could manage.
“You my friend can now let go and move on. You are free. But wait, who did you turn too that night? It couldn’t have been your wife was it? Did you go back to the restaurant?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Yuto,” Inoo sniffed on the sidewalk still staring in the direction that Yuto ran off at.
“Inoo-kun?” a familiar person said from behind, about ten minutes later “Are you alright?” the person was under an umbrella, wearing a raincoat and looked totally awkward being out in the rain.
“No, no I’m not, Shintaro-kun” Inoo responded to his friend.
“Can I call someone for you? I’m on my way home, late night I’m afraid.” He said even though it was only like eight o’clock.
“No I’m fine, thank-you, I’m just…I’m just waiting, yes waiting for someone,” Inoo lied as to not freak out the boy.
“You’re a horrible liar, Inoo-kun, but don’t worry, I’ll fix it,” Shintaro said and quickly typed an email message to someone. “I have to leave you now but help is coming, don’t worry, he’ll know what to do.”
“Thank-you, whenever you need something please don’t hesitate to ask me for it.”
“No thanks needed, hopefully I’ll see you tomorrow,” Shintaro said and started to walk off, but not before he stopped and said goodnight before completely disappearing in the night.
Inoo waited there for this “help” that Shintaro called, but not five minutes later a car pulled up and a guy rushed out with an umbrella. He threw his arms around Inoo but said nothing, usually one would be completely freaked out at this, but not Inoo, and help really did come for him. The person led Inoo into the car and then ran around to the other side and jumped in.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Wait Shintaro helped you? Weird, I mean I knew that kid was awesome but seriously wow,” Daiki interrupted. “I can’t believe you had to go through that. Wait, who picked you up?”
“Yabu, Takaki, and Hikaru, they were apparently together for some reason or another and Shintaro called Yabu who got Takaki to drive to pick me up. They comforted me that night, and I have no idea why you weren’t there but they gave me comfort and I told them that Yuto and I had an even worse fight than before and I gave them just the basics of what had happened and before we knew it, it was morning and time to go to work.”
“That’s when you found out the news,” Daiki filled in. “Oh Kei-chan, I’m so sorry, I can’t remember what I did that night but I can’t believe I wasn’t there for you, I’m so sorry why didn’t you come to me sooner.”
“I couldn’t go to anyone; you have no idea how hard it had been for me, knowing that I caused it. Yuto’s dead because I didn’t walk him home properly, I allowed him to run off, I don’t even know where it happened nor do I want to know, all I know is that I was the last person he spoke too before he died.”
“I’m sure he forgives you now Kei-chan, it wasn’t your fault,” Daiki started.
“He does forgive me, at least in my dreams and visions he does, but I bet that makes me sound crazy.”
“Not at all. I’m sure you’ll think of him more now that it’s off your chest and you’ll actually be able to get past this.”
“I don’t think so. I think I’ve said my peace and I’m done crying about it. I lived my life with my wife, my children and now my grandchildren, worrying that one day they would realize that I was the catalyst in the death of my one true love.”
“You never know Kei-chan, I’m just glad we had this talk before I go tomorrow.”
“Go? Go where? You can’t leave now that I’ve found you again.”
“I have to, we will see each other again, don’t worry. That I promise you,” Daiki said as he made his way back to the porch. “Goodbye my friend.”
“You don’t understand, you’ll never understand, why did he say those words to me?” Inoo spoke to nothing. He was hoping for Yuto to come back to him but he never came, Inoo went on living his life as best he could for the rest of the day, and when night came he met his one true love once again, and this time there was no going back.
And at the young age of 67, Kei Inoo died in his sleep.
Author's Note: I bet you all hate me now, the time between posts and the fact that I just killed both Inoo and Yuto, plus several others who I thought at the moment were not necessary in my story to point out. So please leave me your comments and criticisms for I totally deserve them.
Author's Note Part 2: I'm sure you all hate me now and that's completely understandable, I'm quite aware of the lack of comments on my stories, either multi-chap or oneshot and I'm aware that I am no longer reading people's fanfics but honestly there's just way to many so I don't blame anyone for reading or not reading my fics for I myself am overwhelmed with overused plot lines and poor English, not to mention all of the awful OC fics, honestly I've never been one for OC fics but if one really does catch my eye then I'll take a look. I used to have this rule that when I posted something I would read every fic that interested me between this post and the last, eventually while I was going through the site I would end up with a hundred tabs or so on my toolbar and then I'd be so overwhelmed that by the time i met a good chunk of the stories I'd be so bored that I'd end up deleting the tabs. Then I had decided that I would just stick with a few good readers, I would make sure I would check for their updates but then nothing ever came up and I just stopped altogether. I guess what I mean to say is that, I am writing no more fics unless I get really good inspiration, that may not be for a long time and I’m very sorry to say this but I honestly have no inspiration anymore, and I don’t feel like posting things that aren’t going to be read except for me.
I am truly sorry, but one week from today I will be on semi-permanent hiatus. You may see me here and there if a good story catches my eye in the fandom but like usual I won’t be checking every day, and I will always comment if I have read something.
Sorry and Goodbye.
