Author: Stephie
Chapters:7
Pairings: Inoobu, Takayama, Arijima, Hikato, and Chiitaro
Rating: Pg-13 for the moment... I may fluxuate
Genre: General I guess, I'm not good with the whole Genre thing...
Warnings: Adult Topics
Summary: Even though BEST tried their hardest to keep 7 from finding out Yabu’s secret, they didn’t do a very good job. Either by unconsciously checking or downright, full on looking. BEST kept 7 wondering about their new behaviours and it’s all because of Yabu?
Authors Note: This story is a sequel to my latest Multi-Chapter story “He Needs to Know”, and a side story/sequel to the sequel “Why their Dinner Burned” it may make more sense if you have read those two first, but this story will stand by itself as well. As usual, thanks to my betas monijadechan and audreyfan1 .

Chapter 7: What more could happen?

It was a restless night for Daiki, he was unable to move from his position under Inoo’s head, and every time he tried, the older boy shifted almost waking up and that was something Daiki did not want Inoo to do. Inoo needed this sleep and Daiki was almost on the verge of drugging him just so he would sleep, peacefully. Yuto had fallen asleep not too long after Inoo did and Daiki felt relief that the taller boy was able to finally drift off into the place of no pain, still slightly ignorant to the situation at hand but still in on what was happening. On the other side of the room Daiki could see that Hikaru was fidgeting in his sleep, he kept tossing and turning as if he was having a nightmare, which he was. They were just living it instead.

It was just after three in the morning when a nurse had tapped him on the shoulder. “I’m sorry sir but you have a phone call, he said it’s urgent.”

“Alright, thank-you, I’ll be right there.” Daiki said and carefully got out of Inoo’s tight grasp, Daiki did the thing he saw on television shows many times the swipe and replace routine, he replaced his body with a pillow that was just as soft and warm as Daiki had been, especially considering he had been sitting on it the whole time.

The nurse led Daiki down the empty halls to the deserted entrance area where he was supposed to take the call. “Moshi-moshi?” Daiki said sleepily into the phone.

“Dai-chan you guys are alive, that’s great!” Takaki’s over excited voice came over the phone. Daiki rolled his eyes. “I’m calling to tell you that we all made it home safe. It took some time, since we had to drive, but we’re all good now. I tried calling your cell phone but you have it off as well as Inoo-chan, Hikaru-kun, and Yuto-kun so I figured you guys had super glued yourselves to those cushions.”

“Inoo-chan almost tried but no, one of the doctors said that we can stay in Yabu’s room until visiting hours start again then we need to go into the waiting room, he obviously realized that we were not going to leave his side.”

Takaki’s voice changed from one of excitement to one of seriousness, “how is he?”

“Fragile,” was Daiki’s only answer. “One of his cuts had gotten infected with this virus that caused him to lose his appetite which in turn made him lose his energy which in turn caused him to faint and considering the considerable amount of pressure we put on him it’s surprising he had lasted this long. He probably knew his cut was infected but that he didn’t want anybody to know, to worry about him anymore.”

“Kota’s always been that way though; he hates people worrying about him every second of the day. He needs to be the rock” Takaki said wisely, which was very unlike him. “We should have known that and not tried to take over the group, or share the responsibility.”

Daiki could only say, “True,” to that since there was no other explanation needed.

“So when can he come back?” Takaki asked after an awkward minute of silence.

“Once he wakes up.” Daiki stated simply.

“And when will that be?” Takaki asked trying to push the conversation along, Daiki was obviously unable to create topics to say so Takaki had to keep him going.

“Whenever he does, there is no actual answer to that question Takaki, the doctors themselves can’t even do anything until he wakes up, and that’s the sad part. I haven’t told the others this, and they are asleep right now so it’s safe to say. Yabu needs to regain his strength so until then, there really isn’t anything that can be done.” Daiki was starting to break, he needed to not be Humpty Dumpty’s wall anymore. There wouldn’t be any soldiers to put them back together once the wall broke too. They would all be a mess.

“Dai-chan calm down alright,” Takaki said while hearing the crack in Daiki’s voice. “In the morning, I have been given permission to fly back with your guys’ stuff and we are allowed to stay here until he wakes up, after that we must to return to normal until he has recovered.

Daiki eyes lit up when Takaki said that. He felt relief; there is still at least one soldier willing.

Daiki had said nothing so Takaki continued, “listen you need to stay solid until I get there alright? Keep an eye on them, watch for when they will break, yes I realize that Hikaru and Inoo have already shattered to the floor, I figured that once 7 and I were gone they both broke at the same time, am I right?”

“Yes, together and at the same time, I couldn’t move Hikaru for two hours!” Daiki said into the phone. “Yuto has been helpful as well, but he too can’t do much more, he’s an empty shell right now Takaki, there is no life in his eyes, only depression.” Daiki explained. “He’ll break soon. I won’t know what to do if I have three broken people, Inoo refuses to sleep and to eat, he refuses to move from his spot, its going to be one hell of a time in the morning when he has to leave Yabu’s side.”

“I know. Dai-chan listen to me, I have to go now but I will be there first thing, my flight is in about two hours at 6:00am, you’ll be alright until then, try to get some sleep alright? You need to sleep, you may be sounding fine to yourself, but for anybody you knows you, especially for the amount of time that I have, can tell that you’re completely exhausted. In the morning I will talk to the doctors, I also have a letter from Johnny-san to them so hopefully that will help us.”

“Alright, see you in a few hours. We’re actually in Yabu’s room but you never know we could have moved by then.”

“Ja ne, stay strong alright?”

“Alright, I’ll try, ja ne” Daiki hung up the phone after hearing the tone of the phone replace Takaki’s comforting breathing pattern. He looked around at the blank hospital, there wasn’t a person in sight, not the random nurse checking up on a patient, not the random patient going for a 4:00 am walk nothing, there was no sound, no nothing. It was just a dark empty place.

Daiki made his way back to Yabu’s room quietly and slowly, he did not want to disturb the silent halls with his quick paced walking. When he got there, there was something different about the dark room. Something was missing. There were occupants in all the beds but there were only three breathing patterns. Yes Hey! Say! JUMP was in synch but not their breathing patterns. Worried, Daiki went over and check the three bodies that he was aloud to touch. They all had pulses but Inoo’s was slower than the other two.

“Kei?” Daiki asked quietly, and attempted to shake the boy awake. He didn’t wake. “Kei!” he tried again, Daiki did not want to wake the boy but he needed too, he needed this living nightmare to be over, not get worse. Giving up on Kei, Daiki tried another person “Hikaru. Please wake up, please wake up”

“What’s wrong Dai-chan?” Yuto asked waking up instead of the two people he wanted to wake. “You haven’t slept at all!”

Daiki ignored him and still attempted to wake Hikaru, “Please, please wake up Hikaru!”

“Dai-chan stop!” Yuto commanded once he saw how much pressure he was putting on his friend. “Tell me what’s wrong. Let Hikaru sleep.”

“I need Hikaru to wake up.”

“Alright,” Yuto said simply. “Hikaru, Keito served you naked breakfast!” Daiki couldn’t help but smile at that. But Hikaru shot up in bed. Yuto grinned, “Ohayou!”

“You tricked me!” Hikaru shot.

“Yup,” Yuto smiled.

“Mou~ Yuto’s mean” Hikaru said and then he took in his surroundings. “Still nothing, eh?”

“Still nothing.” Daiki replied, “Inoo’s chan hasn’t woken up though, I tried waking him since his breathing is irregular but he won’t wake.”

“Inoopapa?” Yuto looked over at Inoo. He was laying there as if he was sleeping; very similar to Yabu’s position, but different somehow. Yuto walked over, worried, and grabbed on to his hand, Inoo was colder than normal. But he was on top of the bed sheets so it would make sense, but he still shouldn’t have been this cold. “I think you better go find a doctor Dai-chan.”

“What?” Hikaru asked. He was shocked at the words Yuto had just said, why is it Inoo too?

“Please?” Yuto asked simply.”

Daiki nodded and quickly escaped the room. This could not be happening. Who said “things couldn’t get any worse?” Daiki was going to kill them; things always get worse after someone says that. After a few minutes of searching he finally found the same doctor from before.

“Ah Arioka-kun, you shouldn’t be walking around here.” The doctor warned.

“Sensei, please, my other friend he won’t wake up. He hasn’t eaten in like twenty hours. And his skin is so cold. Please, can you check on him? I think something is wrong.”

“Alright,” he said and got up from his chair, he was doing paperwork but checking out a possible patient was much more important. They walked back to the room. “You other three will have to stay outside though.”

“That’s fine; the other two are awake already anyways.” Daiki said as they reach the door. Both Hikaru and Yuto were around Inoo’s bed. Since they had promised the doctor that they wouldn’t touch Yabu in this condition they forced their self to stay by Inoo’s side.

“Excuse me, boys you must go wait outside with Arioka-kun” the doctor said simply. They nodded reluctantly and moved out into the hall. Daiki sat in the chair with his head between his knees much like Inoo’s position from before.

“Dai-chan, what’s going on?” Yuto asked him as he moved to sit beside his boyfriend. Hikaru sat on the other side, shocked that this could be happening to more than one member of JUMP.

“I don’t know, things will get better, I know they will, they won’t get worse, but I’m not going to say that they can’t because that will automatically mean that they will. It won’t, I won’t let it.” Daiki mumbled into his hand.

“What are you talking about?” Hikaru asked. They were so concentrated on Daiki talking and looking at the floor that they had missed four night-shift nurses hastily rushing in and out of the ward.

“What is going on?” Yuto tried again.

“Tell us.” Hikaru demanded.

Daiki sighed, it was now or never. “The doctor said that they can’t do anything else for Yabu until he wakes up, and he must do that on his own. Also, the reason why we can’t touch Yabu is because of the treatment that he’s undergoing. It is an active bacterium, one that will destroy the infection. That is why he is being monitored. Yabu can’t be touched because with another human contact the bacteria will transfer to that person. The fewer bacteria working on Yabu, the longer it will take for him to wake up.” Hikaru and Yuto nodded understandably and Daiki continued, “I think that this morning when I left the room for a phone call, Inoo, who I thought was asleep, woke up and touched Yabu or something.” Daiki explained to his hand. He would not look up; he stared through his fingers towards the ground at the three pairs of feet. “I was only gone for a half hour if not more, who knows what could have happened.”

“A phone call, this early in the morning? Who was it?” Hikaru asked.

“Takaki, he was calling to say that they had all gotten home fine and to tell me the details of what is going to happen outside the hospital. He is flying back with our things this morning also with a letter for the doctors. Takaki said that we can stay here until Yabu wakes up, then we must return to normal as if nothing happened.”

“How, in the world, can we do that?” Yuto asked. “Especially now.”

“We have to try; Takaki doesn’t know that Inoo is down for the count as well.” Daiki said simply and the doctor came out of the room.

“Don’t say that!” Hikaru almost yelled.

“Arioka-kun,” the doctor started and the three of them looked up, the doctor had only said Daiki’s name because it was the only one he knew. “Did that boy, touch Yabu-kun?”

“We don’t know.” Daiki said simply and then continued. “We know he didn’t while I was in the room, but I had left previously for a phone call from the agency for about a half an hour, and the three of them were asleep during that time but Inoo-chan may have woken up.” Daiki explained.

“Is there something wrong with Inoo-chan?” Yuto asked strongly, he knew he would collapse if something bad happened.

“Maybe I should wait to tell you this, maybe when a senior is here or your director.”

“No please just tell us.” Hikaru begged.

“Well your friend, the other boy, Inoo-kun I think you said. He contracted the active bacteria from Yabu-kun, and this can only happen from physical contact, so the only conclusion is that he touched him, in some way. You said that he hadn’t eaten since yesterday morning right?” Daiki nodded. “Well, the better news is then is that the bacteria seemed to have taken a similar effect as a stronger type of stomach virus.” Daiki let out a sigh of relief, he felt relieved now. “I have ordered medication to be brought to him and I must ask that you three go wash up, since you also have been touching Inoo-kun there is a chance that you may have contracted it too. You’re fine to be around it, just don’t touch it.”

“Thank-you sensei, we will do that.” Hikaru said shakily.

“I have also ordered for some food to be given to Inoo-kun that way there is a higher chance for this virus to go away.” The doctor said while leading them to a washing station just down the hall. “In the mean time, you must stay out here. Remember we aren’t a hotel, and if you had waited any longer we may not have been able to save the boys.”

“Boys?” Yuto picked up on that.

“Yes, Yabu-kun’s condition seems to be turning for the better. He should wake up today. Inoo-kun on the other hand, I do not know.” The doctor said. “For him, we will have to wait. I received a phone call from Kitagawa-san late last night, early this morning; he said that he was sending another one of your group down today with a change of clothes for you all as well as a letter of some sort, once that boy comes, you may stay here until visiting hours are over but after that you must move to a hotel. We are not a hotel but I was told that your director would have one nearby ready for you.”

“Thank-you sensei, for everything” Hikaru said simply.

Authors Note: Gosh it's almost done, that's crazy this has been going on since November just one more chapter left. I'm writing it now and it's long. Longer than 6. YAY me for my awesome writing. I'm sorry just a little praisal there since I've been so frickin depressed lately. But I'm all good now, which inspired me to write. Yay! Homework, stupid homework is holding me back though, I almost forgot to update today but luckily for me I remembered while talking to Jasmine ( just_mine23) luckily she reminded me and she also gave me more inspiration for Chapter 8, so I'm personally insingling her out and thanking her. Gives confetti to all!! And if people actually read these Notes at the end of the chapter and you liked the chapter, give me confetti! I LOVE CONFETTI!!!!! more than hugs! Confetti is SOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER!!! This was a sort of depressing chapter, I know I shocked both of my betas when they were reading it, apparently they weren't expecting that to happen. I don't know, but like I said all of my writing lately has been reflective of my depressed mood so maybe it was the reason why it is so depressing. Again I don't know. I Hope you enjoyed it. One more chapter to go, and this time I'm serious.
