Random House Children's Publishers, under various forms of their Red Fox imprint, has the rights to a bunch of Sutcliff novels, and depending on which country you live in, will be making several of them available in e-book format on February 27. I'm linking to the Kindle store because I find it easiest to navigate (and also the BN store, for example, doesn't seem to list upcoming e-releases), but I can't see why they wouldn't also be releasing for other companies. (They're the same publisher who did the e-release of Brother Dusty Feet a couple weeks ago, FYI. Other e-books currently available are the three Roman Britain books, Outcast, and Sword at Sunset. Everything else was pulled a while back.)
Anyway. There will be two books that will be available in at least the US, UK, and Canada (are there any Canadians here?):
Beowulf: Dragonslayer (US:
$6.66; UK:
£3.55; Canada:
$6.57)
The Hound of Ulster (US:
$7.99; UK:
£4.27; Canada:
$7.89)
Presumably the remaining books have their rights tied up with other US publishers, because there are three more books that only the UK and Canada (I don't know about other English-language rightsholders, sorry) are getting, also on February 27. It sucks to be American, my friends, and I know at least one of the people reading this is going to be deeply jealous. Anyway, the rest of you lucky, lucky people get:
Eagle's Honour (UK:
£4.29; Canada:
$7.89)
The High Deeds of Finn MacCool (UK:
£4.29; Canada:
$7.89)
The Shining Company (UK:
£5.01; Canada:
$9.22)
Anyway. Preorder! Enjoy! (And given how the electronic availability of Sutcliff books seems to be... in flux, if you really want any of these, you should probably get them fairly soon, since they will keep them on your account for you even if the book itself is later pulled from sale.)
