I was a little surprised to see that--I haven't read it, though. That and Sword Song (I thought I was the only person with any interest in fic for that book) surprised me the most.

Well BDF is nice and all but it's definitely one of the kiddie books, which I would've thought of less interest to most ficcers - I see she's mostly nominated the adult characters, though.

Hey, I'd read the hell out of Sword Song fic. The end of the book is sort of like - a resolution for Bjarni but a beginning for Angharad?

It is! And Angharad was pretty much my favorite, so I'd really like to see how she adapts to life among Vikings with Bjarni. I just get...stuck on how to write Bjarni.

Is it that you find Bjarni unsympathetic, or just opaque?

I don't find him very sympathetic, although he's getting better by the end if the book, but that's less of an issue for me as a writer than his opacity. I just can't figure him out (and hence will not be offering SS for YT this year, alas).
