Not-Fic Post: When fandom worlds collide...Takarazuka does Sutcliff??
In addition to being a Rosemary Sutcliff fan, I'm an anime/manga addict and burgeoning Japanophile. I'm subscribed to takarazuka, the LiveJournal community devoted to Takarazuka: a Japanese theatrical movement started in 1914 that, for nearly a century, has been staging elaborate performances with casts composed exclusively of women. (More history available in the English-language portion of the Takarazuka Theatre official website.)
A post today in the community notes plans for the 2008 production of Arabia of Love and Death/Red Hot Sea, based on Sutcliff's Blood and Sand. (The latter, for those not familiar with it, is reviewed here by tamaranth.)
I don't know anything further about this, but thought folks might be interested to hear of it. I wish they'd do Knight's Fee or Simon or The Eagle of the Ninth...
