No offense taken at all! I used the word "soulmate" a bit loosely in my idea, but it's always bothered me to hear people say "there's someone out there for everyone" (mostly because I think that's very much an oversimplification and can lead to more depression overall, as there's some level of limitation--"someone," to me, feels like "one person").
I really like how you don't just dismiss the idea of people being "right" for each other, too--that you do need to find someone who makes you happy at the time and not completely settle. As you said, you don't need to find "that person" each time dating occurs, but you can't force anything either. For me, I haven't found someone who makes me fulfilled relationship-wise, but I keep hope up that I will cross paths with someone that way someday. I'm not looking for the permanent (as I'm sure I wouldn't be prepared for that right now anyway), but I'm not going to force myself into something, either.
And I'm 24 now, so I don't have much time to catch up to you! (Just teasing. I'm not in a rush. I have until I'm 30 before I become yesterday's news :P )
Like Greg Behrendt says, a good relationship isn't two people leading a single life: it's two people living full lives alongside each other.
