Um, anyone else heard about
this?
I thought we were making progress here, perhaps not? (especially since some of this seems to have backing from the Bush administration) Stocking the creationist book is one thing, but editing the footage for the film displayed at the Lincoln Memorial is quite another. How can they seriously justify that? They’re possibly cutting out footage of the liberal rallies that took place at the memorial and replacing it with footage of more conservative rallies that took place elsewhere? If it’s being displayed at the Lincoln Memorial, it should be about things that have happened at the Lincoln Memorial. The plaques and the cross are questionable, but seeing as the government isn’t supposed to impose the religious beliefs of any one religion on members (or those who are members of no religion) of any other religion, they probably shouldn’t be there. I know I certainly wouldn’t want to see them adding anything. When I go to a National Park to hike, I go there for being in natural surroundings (aside from the trails and the road into the park), not to have anyone’s religious beliefs impressed upon me. I expect it to stay that way. No faith-based parks in my lifetime. Time to start writing letters to the NPS. Addresses can be found
here if anyone else is interested in letting them know about your opinions.
While we’re on this topic, there’s also
this. Not sure what to think about that.. They say that those who don’t want to be there were removed and they’re accepting of all faiths. I suppose only time will tell whether or not they follow this. I wonder if “finding Jesus” shortens your sentence any.. ;-) (they say not, but who knows...)
Alright, no more sitting on my ass with regards to political issues that bug me.
