The next American Idol.
About a month ago Heidi,the manager of the Carnation farmers market sent out an email saying she was looking for more musicians for the market. I sent her a link to my musical myspace page. She said she'd love to have me, but I never heard back. Today I went to the market to hear the lovely Angela Reed, http://www.myspace.com/angelareed and during her break I went up and introduced myself to Heidi. She asked what dates I was available, I said "anytime, when do you have an opening?" she said "how about next week?"
So it's official, next week I will be the musical entertainment at the market.
Back in the day when I was playing bass in a band I played lots of public gigs, then after like 15 years of not playing in public at all I started doing the open mics. I've been doing that for about 6 years now. But this will be my first solo 2 hour gig ever! I'm also set to play the Redmond Farmers Market on Aug. 22. for my second solo gig. If that's not enough the band I recently started jamming with has a fourth of July party gig in Lynnwood. Then right after my farmers market gig on the 22nd the band is playing a wedding reception in Federal way.
I feel like I'm finally getting out of my musical slumber and getting out there!
I know to anyone reading this post that Carnation is way the fuck out in the boonies, and Redmond is almost as bad, so I don't expect you to be there, but wish me luck! Hopefully the band will play a public gig in the not too distant future that I can invite you all to.
