A lot has been said about how to prevent rape. Women should learn self-defense. Women should lock themselves in their houses after dark. I agree it is good sense to know how to knock an attacker on his ass. I didn't feel like editing it as it was a good sentiment as it stands, and I think the point is that there are people who make victims feel it is their own fault. "well if she knew how to kick someone in the balls properly, she wouldn't have been in that situation" it is that attitude that is being reacted against.

I think the sentiment may be better stated as:

Don't tell your women friends that it is on them to be safe and avoid rape, and thus their fault if they do get raped.

Also I feel that posting this is showing solidarity in feeling, not changing how others view the world.

I don't think the guys who need to make the ideological shift in thinking would from reading this. However, I think that it is nice to know that the "blame the victim" mentality is not completely pervasive.
