Baton Rouge survived Gustav, but we got hit pretty hard. Campus was closed last week, so no work. A tree fell on the building I work in, and instead of knocking it down like they should, they're moving us out to repair it. Ugh. At least I get to go back to work tomorrow. I really can't take sitting around day after day and doing nothing.
Our power went out Monday, and we got it back Wednesday. Lots of people still don't have power. Thank the Lord I live on Burbank. When I was driving back to my apartment Wednesday night, I was alternately saying Hail Mary's and Our Father's and trying not to get my hopes up too much. It worked, though!! Having power is wonderful. And AC - oh lovely lovely air conditioning.
Ike is heading towards us next weekend. Fantastic.
Our football game against Troy State was moved to November. I'm thinking the North Texas game next weekend is going to be moved/cancelled too. Freaking hurricanes.
Must go and try to find a shoe store open. Finding shoes for Mom's wedding is not going to be easy. Don't know what to wear.
Stores close at 6 now. I forgot that fact about hurricanes.
