I have decided to start my Victorian dress. YAY! I bought patterns for it two years ago at costume college. My gosh I cant believe that was two years ago this summer... My how time goes by far to quickly. I think its kinda funny that last years costume, the orion slave girl, which was probably the least clothed costume goes to its complete opposite Victorian ball gown that has about 3 different layers. I decided it was going to be a pretty dress year. :)
My patterns are from "Truly Victorian." The women from this group were so nice to talk to and very informative. I got the chemise and drawers, corset, bustle, petticoat, underskirt, apron, and bodice patterns.
I am starting from this inside out with some lovely Victorian underpants! I actually decided to omit the drawers and just go with the chemise since no one is really going to see them and its one more hassle between me and the bathroom... I got my fabric for the corset too. I wanted it to be pretty so I got a white and silver brocade fabric that I am going to put over my white twill. I mean come on everyone wants pretty underwear. I still need to order my hardware for the corset but hopefully these will come along nicely.
So heres to phase one on my trip back in time.
