NYC Trip (taken from Baro blog)
Hello world! I have some time to kill since I’ll be staying up all night to leave for Portland around 2 a.m for my 6 a.m. flight, so I figured I should give a preface for my New York trip. I’ll be in New York City for 5 nights, in the middle of Manhattan, all by myself. Freaking amazing, but a little frightening, maybe?
The reason for this trip - which isn’t just that I love the city and I’m addicted, because I am - is that I’m trying to get an internship for next summer. I applied to a bunch of fashion magazines and surprisingly enough, three of them decided to interview me!
I have interviews Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. It’s really intimidating to imagine walking into some fashion office…all I can think of are moments from the Devil Wears Prada. But my interviews really take up only the mornings, so I’m also seeing three shows and plan on just frolicking about the city. Out of sheer luck, this will be the fourth time I’ve been to the city in the past year and a half, so I know my way around. However, I’ve never been in December and I’ve never gone alone. Oh my, the possibilities!
Lucky for me, there is a cyber café right next to my hotel, so I’ll likely be there updating right after my interviews. Mainly because I don’t think my friends would appreciate me calling them at 7 a.m. on the West Coast.
I’m not too nervous yet, but I guess I’m just used to flying alone, since I do it all the time to go home to Los Angeles. But when I get off that plane and realize there’s no one there to meet me, well, that’s where the real adventure begins.
