went downtown to an NB party last night. j. got semi-jumped last weekend at this club called utopia by this girl named mimi who is still in love with the guy whom j. is seeing (or thinks she's seeing- he never makes it official.)
complicated, i know.
we got to the club and scoped out the joint for a short little laos girl with corn rows in her hair. (little girls can do big damage, let me tell you.) i was so not in battle-mode in my dainty lace top. but praise god, my top was saved. (scratch that over-concern for the top. i'm just glad nothing went down.)
life in buffalo is very... local.
everyone seems to know everyone else. one of the girls i live next door to actually went out with my ex-boyfriend from high school and an ex-best friend from church. that's more an asian one-degree-of-separation thing. what i'm talking about is the townies, the twentysomething kids who live here more or less permanently and live for each others' gossip.
imagine a person with a toe dipping into that local circle. that would be my toe.
i'm foreign here. i like it better that way.
---
it's a strange thing to walk around a party sober. people look sloppy when they're dancing all drunk&sweaty.
---
dancing with j., two guys sandwich us from both sides. (do guys plan maneuvers such as this?) it's all good and i go on dancing until i realize guy is a little too happy to be there (and rubbing his happiness all over my behind.) i gently nudge him away and continue to dance.
---
the atmosphere at parties such as this oooooze sex. it's not about mingling or conversation. it's just straight up flesh to flesh contact under the rhythm of a reggae flow.
i miss the old school- mad cobra, supercat, mr. vegas, cutty ranks. flex, limb by limb, heads high, don dada, wake de man...
memories.
oh, the songs i'd spin if i were a disc jockey...

can anyone in toronto confirm that guvernment's being renovated to officially become the biggest club in the world?
can anyone in toronto recommend any other good clubs in their area?
