feathers brings out my inner hippie

my current favourite song is "past the moon" by feathers. feathers is this collective of musicians from vermont who play psych-folk and are friends with devendra banhart and signed to his and andy cabic of vetiver's label, gnomonsong. "past the moon" is amazing!!! quite possibly the most perfect song ever written, at least in the realms of fey-sounding folk music. i often listen to it on repeat, and especially like to hear it when i go to bed at night so as to fill me with peaceful thoughts before i enter the dreamworld. i don't think i can describe the song in a manner in which it would do it any justice. at best i can only explain the way i feel when i listen to it. basically, for me nothing else but that song exists while i'm listening to it. it's the most magickal and dreamiest-sounding of songs. it makes me smile whenever i hear it and causes me to both step lightly (so as not to crush any of the magickal creatures inhabiting the forest the song transports me to), and also twirl around and flutter my arms about even when in public. all is right with the world when i hear it for i am able to see the world for all the the magick and beauty and wonder that i wish i am capable of seeing all the time. the chorus goes, "theres a bell above the sky thats ringing upside down/its mirrored in the waters who are shaking underground". there's also mention of angel children and a funeral in heaven, yet the melody makes me feel like i'm in the faerie wood. when i close my eyes and listen to the singer's gentle falsetto, he lulls me into a state in which i truly feel as if i love every single being on this planet and i wish to tell everyone so and to give them great big hugs. there is only one other time i believe in which i've felt that way. it was immediately after i finished stargirl, a young adult novel by jerry spinelli about a teenaged girl who was beautifully unique and was all about random acts of kindness. because i love you guys all so much and want you to experience the beauty that is feathers, i've uploaded the song to yousendit so that you may all have a listen for yourself. i hope you all love it as much as i do and if so, i encourage you to check out the rest of the album.

past the moon

love and blessings to you all,
