So, after talking with the bakery manager, food manager, and store director, they all think it's a great (maybe even fantastic) idea for me to be trained for the bakery! The store director actually went off on a little tangent about how in the summertime (if I'm not taking any classes, which I still haven't decided on) I could take shifts in the bakery (and they could have someone cover my bread shift) and I think he got this weird glint in his eye...kinda creepy.
So, on Friday and Saturday, I'm going to start training for the bakery! Which...basically means I'll have to go into work at 4 in the morning, instead of 6, but if it means extra hours (ie: extra money) then I'm totally willing to go on two hours less sleep every night.
The only major downside is that Starbucks doesn't open until 5:30am.
And I don't think the 'rents would appreciate the espresso machine running at 3:30. ::sigh::
Hopefully I won't be taking a lot of shifts in the bakery (even though it would be really nice to have those extra hours). But, basically: once I'm trained, I'd be able to go in at 4, cover the bakery for two hours until the bakery opener got in at 6, then I would go over and do my bread job. It would help our pregnant bakery manager cut back on her hours (she's about 7 months, and she *finally* cut her hours back to about 40 a week ::sigh::).
This whole idea started when one of our bakery openers was 2-3 hours late for her shift, twice in a week. Since I don't know how to do anything in the bakery except pull the stales and bread for slicedown, I couldn't get anything ready for the customers, which made me feel pretty bad. All I could do was tell the angry customers that their donuts would be ready in about an hour or two. It actually makes me feel a bit useless, and the second time she did it, our store director (of course he was in *early* that day...oi) came by and said "thanks" and "great job". I felt it wasn't warranted, since all I was doing was pulling products with that days date. How fucking hard is that? (Actually, it might be quite difficult, as the person who was supposed to open bakery that morning usually misses about 20 items. One day, I had to scan out *50* items that she missed.). So...this is a pretty big thing for me, I guess. Sure, there's probably going to be contract issues (I'm on a different contract than the bakery, because it's just incredibly stupid like that. Commercial *bakery* in fact has nothing to do with the bakery, apparently.), but it should all work out pretty fine (especially if our store director is so pumped about it).
That's probably the only news I have. ::sigh:: Oh...well, spring classes are up, so I might try to figure out what I'm taking next term. I'm thinking about yoga. I've been really stressed and sore, and it seems like the kinda thing I can get into. I know part of my problem is probably my diet (I know the dew and coffee don't help much, but I need them to keep going! Though, I have started drinking more water. *^.^*)
Oh. My room is clean. There's one box of papers that I have to go through and organize, and I still have to deal with my clothes (but they're in one location, off the floor and out of sight), but...my room is *clean*. Almost to the point of organization! Tressa came downstairs and had to hold onto the pillars (basically my doorway) she was so blown away by the cleanliness. I'm still not completely thrilled with the organization (I need to deal with my desk, but...that'll come at a later date, I actually do have homework to do...oi). I feel a bit more relaxed now that it's clean though. *^.^*
