Man, what a day. Up early, exercised and did a load of laundry, then bussed down to Chinatown to shop for umbrellas. There's a story about that - I invited my friend H out a few nights ago, and she had trouble closing her umbrella because the shaft was a little bent. I offered to fix it... and snapped it completely in half. This is after I gushed praise for her unique and attractive umbrella, which was unfortunately made with cheap steel. So I promised I would replace it with a new umbrella, one just as unique and attractive. I think I found a good one today, too, but I was comparison shopping, so I'll have to go back tomorrow to get it.
So, I was beatin' feet until about 4pm, from LeBreton to the Rideau Center, with stop at the National Gallery and the Rideau St. Metro, to buy ingredients. After that it was off to H's house, to cook her some fried rice. It wound up as a thick rice-based paste, because we didn't cook the rice long enough, but it was delicious all the same. Well, one thing led to another, and we wound up watching the new Sherlock Holmes movie. It's good, albeit confusing.
And then I bussed for two hours to get home. Let's hear it for hour-long layovers in Billings Bridge.
