On missed connections

O em'rald lady!
first meeting, I can't forget
second meeting, lost.

Okay, so I dramatized it a little to make good poetry, but here's the story: at a party early this winter, I met a really cool girl at a party - sexy, fun, ballsy. Didn't get her digits, forgot her name, figured I'd never see her again. Not a big deal, right? Happens every day. Forgot about the whole thing a week later.

But yesterday, completely by accident, I found her on the internet. Just recognized her in a photo. I wasn't stalking her or anything, it was a total surprise. "Hey," I thought, "things are looking up for ol' Jonesy!"

Yeah, the internet posting in question was one saying that she moved away from Ottawa. Two months ago.

Balls.

Now, the weirdest thing is, this doesn't change the situation at all - I'm still never going to see her again. Don't even plan to contact her, because that would be crossing the line in creepy stalkerhood. I'm not even that interested, for Chrissakes. But for some reason, finding out that I could have contacted her back then, if I'd googled the right google, is like... well, not quite a slap in the face. Maybe a poke in the ribs. Annoying, anyways.

In other news, still unemployed through lack of effort. Yyeeeeaahhhh.

Yours in Wonderland,
Sushi Jones
