So, yes, it is awfully lonely with
darwins_fox out of town, but I managed to have quite the killer evening anyway, at least after I got out of work. To wit:
-last day of the storewide sale at Turn It Up!, and not only did I manage to score a couple of CDs *and* the Indiana Jones boxset, but it turns out I had a full stamp card, so I got another ten bucks off. I love that store.
-picked up a copy of
The Mighty Skullboy Army, vol. 1 at Modern Myths, because
jacobchabot is awesome and so is his infernal creation. Mutant turnips ripping off a robot's head and assaulting a monkey with it? You can't put a price on that kind of hilarity, unless it's ten dollars, in which case it comes cheap. BUY IT. Now. Seriously. I also ran into
qcjeph and his GF, who are always fun to talk to, and got some really interesting Insidar Infozez.
-wined and dined at The Dirty Truth with
fr0bozz, whom I hadn't seen in ages. Had a great time catching up, and gotta say, her new digs are sweeeeeet.
-and last but certainly not least, saw The Blow and Mirah at a more-packed-than-I've-ever-seen-it Iron Horse. My usual concert buddy
rogue_wanderer, alas, couldn't make it, but her friend Delia came to the show, and we hung out. Saw a metric fuckton of Smithies, as well as this girl that I made friends with at UMass when I took a physics course to fulfill my science distrib what seems like ages ago.
The show itself was absolutely amazing. I'm really glad I finally got to see Mirah after missing her twice in the last few years; her beautiful, haunting voice is even more entrancing in person. Khaela exuded geeksexiness as usual, and talked a lot more than she did at the other show, which was great-- she weaves stories and scenarios between and into her songs.
Now I collapse into bed, hoping that the Sudafed will kick in really soon.
