I've watched half of the first season of Angel, and it's definitely not as good as Buffy. Part of what makes Buffy so cool is the fact that Buffy's a girl, and girls and women are still the preferred victims in horror (and murder) stories, as seen on almost every SPN episode e.g, and they are always the grateful still-living victims (and usually showing more skin than the male heroes). And Buffy's a tiny blonde girl (also usually showing more skin than the guys). In Angel, the victims are pretty girls again, and that's rather dull, as I realised when Angel had rescued about four of them. With Buffy it seemed like Joss Whedon had a story to tell and he told it very well, keeping the story-lines together and introducing new ones. With Angel you could almost watch just another series, it lacked that indefinable, Whedon-feeling.
Apparently Angel will get better around the 2nd season, which I hope, because now Buffy holds all the cards, from storyline to one-liners to music to villains.
Will Angel and Cordelia get together or was that just something I read in a fanfic?
