Abel strikes me as able to give Mal what Book couldn't, and that is affection without judgment. Book's own painful past made his perceptions tainted, and I felt Mal deserved better.
For someone who'd gone through as much as Mal, to have someone on board that, in his younger days Mal might have even revered, judging him for what he'd had to do to survive didn't seem right.
Kaylee with the little boy on Haven broke my heart, so of course I had to put that to right! ;-) As for Zoe, I adore her character. The balance she managed to strike between Wash and Mal, and the reasons she's stuck by him remain one of the most complicated male/female relationships I've ever come across. Love it!
:-D I adore Mal, and love writing about he and Inara learning to be together. They are so fiercely independent in their own ways - to make a life together would require a great deal of effort, but also reap such tremendous rewards! They have so much to teach each other! I can't seem to get enough of it! ;-)
Thanks again for everything! I'll send the next segment soon!
