I just heard from my sister and my nephew is expecting his first child. My sister was so tickled that I'm going to be a great-aunt. She is looking forward to being a grandma.
It makes me think about how my kids have felt more like aunts with their other cousin's baby. No clue if either of my kids will ever have kids, good thing that I hadn't been addicted to the time I'll become a grandma. I had a great discussion with someone recently who was extolling the joys of being a grandma and I know I'll enjoy it if it ever happens, other than having problems holding them because of my arm. But I've known too many women who felt incredible pressure to have children from their mothers, so that they would have grandchildren-the danger of having only children or just a few kids.
