Accomplishing!

It may not come as a huge surprise to anyone that I have a healthy assortment of sock pattern books and a respectable stash of sock yarn.  I've been working on a big project with organizing them, so I thought I'd mention it.

See, it goes like this - I'll buy yarn because I find some that is SO gorgeous, I just Have To Have It.  Those tend to be ( Read more... )

Great project!!! So how many kits do you have organized? That's the real question.

I surprised myself at how many I had, although it's a drop in the bucket to a lot of die-hard sock-knitters. I think it was 9 complete kits. I didn't touch the Stocking stash - this is strictly the mundane socks. And I have a few strays left unkitted, but not many. Naturally, I have ordered more sock yarn post-haste from knitprincess.

Heh. That is a big project, although I'd personally not want to wind up all of my sock yarn - who knows how long it would sit there (OMG, so much sock yarn) and get stretched out before I knit it up....

I actually forgot about the stretching thing when I did it. But since the stash isn't so very big, it shouldn't be sitting for too awful long. The ones I'm working on now will be finished tonight, which is a 1-week turn-around. And being able to just grab a package and go, I'll be way more productive anyway. Socks are good for carrying around and knitting on whenever you have a minute.

We shall not speak of my sock yarn stash. It's...big. Just big.

Indeed on the portable knitting. Best projects ever for that sort of thing.

OMG, I just got back in the door from Stitches. I'm so tired...but it was all so pretty.

Oh, my eyes just turned green. I'm so jealous. I thought about going to Stitches East in Baltimore, but I couldn't for some reason. I forget why now. I think it conflicted with something I had to do.

I'm not very good at it myself. I learned the lesson the hard way by making some less-than-stellar combinations. I still love the outcome, but it doesn't do justice to either the yarn or the pattern.

I've started using Ravelry for that. I browse the pictures of what other people have done with a particular pattern. That gives me a barometer of sorts to see what looks right and what doesn't.

Sounds like a fun and productive time. I am jealous. I need to organize my small stash.

It was fun! Knowing you, your stash is WAY more organized than mine will ever be!
