It's been a busy week - partly because it's the last week of the academic year, so there were lots of end-of-year meetings and parties.  On top of that, I had a meeting with my supervisor that generated a significant amount of urgent work, so it's all been a bit chaotic.  On the upside, he has once again indicated that he thinks I will finish on time (so long as we can get the clinical trial data by Easter), which is nice, if a little scary.  We also had the "what do you want to do next" conversation, and it's sounding like a postdoc would be a possibility.  I was also waiting to hear whether my paper for EMBC has been accepted, which was meant to happen on Friday.  However, halfway through the day (UK time, about midmorning US time), they changed the website to say that it would be Monday.  I think this is a little cheeky, as it's effectively a three-day delay because of the weekend, and they've not changed the final submission date, so we now have less then 2 weeks between notification and final submission.  And I'm away this week on a GradSchool, so I'll only have 5 days... (which will be fine - I think I actually wrote the paper in less than that)  Still, I am seriously unimpressed with the IEEE.  I mean,  we submitted the papers over 2 months ago - you'd think that would be long enough.

On a lighter note, last night I first-aided for a fantastic concert - Oxford Phil, Blackbird Leys Choir and Julian Lloyd-Webber doing pieces from musicals.  I would have actually considered paying to see it, but why bother when you can go for free - although it does carry the risk that someone will collapse and cause you to miss large portions.  Thankfully, that didn't happen.  It was also nice to see the Sheldonian before it closes next week - they're putting back the ceiling paintings that were removed a few years ago for restoration, so it's going to be closed until November.  I am looking forward to seeing the paintings back, but I will sort of miss the concerts.  I think they're moving Degrees and Matriculation to the exam schools.  I bet we don't get free lunches and tea there...
