A question for the PhD and ex-PhD people:
Do you book travel and accomodation for a conference:
a) as early as possible to get the cheapest deals
b) when your funding is confirmed (even if you're fairly sure you'll get it)
c) when your paper is accepted?
Assuming that a) is earlier than b) is earlier than c)

Edit:  While I am curious as to what others do, I should really be asking the question "When should I book..."
And I maintain that my assumptions hold for this particular combination of conference and funding apps.
