I just put down the paintbrush long enough to nip up the lane and collect daughter from friends house. She would be frightened walking home in the dark.
Invited to stay for coffee with another set of parents collecting their own offspring.
Well, the coffee came with 70% proof single malt whisky - which was rather nice. That was followed by sponge cake and port. The port was a special vintage, bought 25 years ago and laid down for the millenium and forgotten about. :) Served I may say in vintage glasses from around 1750!!!! Crikey I was scared of dropping mine after being told that.
Then came a bottle of red wine brought home from a recent trip to Tuscany. This was accompanied by two merry chaps playing guitars, hee hee! That degenerated into a noisy rendition of Yellow Submarine, by 5 drunken adults and 5 noisy kids.
Then came another whiskey, a 65% proof single Islay malt - that one tasted of Germoline. We had a chaser of the other stuff to wash it down. Hic.
Finally I headed back home refusing all offers of a torch. It was so dark I couldn't see the road, I must remember to see if there is a moon before I set off without a torch again because that's the second time this summer that I've nearly walked into the field. Besides, it's spooky sometimes, the sheep make a really loud noise when all senses are concentrated to see a glimmer of light. They are only munching grass but it sound really loud.
OK, I'm rambling, I know. Goodnight all.
