Who is your character? (Family history, name, patronus, strengths, weaknesses)
Susan Bones lives with her aunt Amelia because her mother, Amelia’s sister, died when Susan was young and her father (a muggle) left soon after. Voldemort killed Susan’s Uncle, Edgar Bones, along with Edgar’s wife and children.
If Susan gets a good idea into her head, she will feel compelled to act on it. She is not one to give up lightly, (or at all, even), because if she sets her mind to something, she will see it through until it is complete not matter how long it takes. Susan does have the “good girl” image going for her (not that she minds!) but she does now how to party and have a good time every so often, she loves a little variety in her life. Her patronus will be a bird of some kind because she envies them their fearlessness of high places and their ability to fly. Susan is terrified of heights otherwise she would have loved to try out for the quidditch team. She makes up for it by being an avid supporter of the Hufflepuff quidditch team as well as the Holyhead Harpies.
Where does she stand in school?
Susan is very much a hard-worker--it was the reason she was put in Hufflepuff--and strives for all her homework assignments to be finished to best of her ability. She has the grades to be a prefect but her personality heads more toward the quiet type and she has no leadership skills because of it. She can be quite talkative around her friends but if put into a situation where she has to lead others, she can become quite reserved. When she is comfortable with her surroundings is when Susan’s true personality emerges. Her favorite subject is charms because she is attracted to simplicity of it; it just comes easily to her. Defense Against the Dark Arts is the one class she has been having a bit of trouble in lately. She has been putting too much pressure on herself to find her patronus but there is no way she will give up on it. Since The DA had done Patronuses last year and Susan never really got the hang of it, her goal is to master the spell. She tends to slide under the radar in Potions because she does all the work and gives Snape no other reason to pick on her. All of her other classes are in the middle range; she doesn’t love them and she doesn’t hate them.
Where does she stand in the war?
Susan is very aware of the threat of Voldemort due to her aunt's high position in the ministry. Her aunt tells her about inside events, not the most important, but only the things that she is allowed to mention. Susan is definitely on Dumbledore’s side, having been involved ever since the D.A. Having lost family members to Voldemort, she would feel guilty if she just stood back and did nothing.
How involved are they right now?
Susan is very involved with the D.A. because she feels like she needs to do more against Voldemort and his followers. She wants the D.A. to start back up again because she believes in being prepared for the future.
How involved does she WANT to be involved?
Susan would like to be more involved in the war but is very nervous about what that would ask of her. Whatever happens, though, she has picked her side and will do whatever she is capable of.
Who are their friends/enemies/interests (love- or friendship-wise)?
Susan has been best friends with her dorm mate, Hannah Abbott, since first year and gets along nicely with her fellow Hufflepuffs as well. She and Zacharias Smith aren’t best friends but every so often they may have a chat. She isn’t put off by his attitude like people in other houses may be, because by living in close proximity to other members of her house, she can see through the images her fellow Hufflepuffs put on for the other houses. Susan has kept to her small social circle mostly until the D.A. and she is on fairly good terms with many of the members. She doesn’t like to be on anyone’s bad side and always tries to be nice to everyone, if she talks to a Slytherin, she will be polite to them so as not to give them something to attack her for. Susan has been getting to know Dennis Creevy a little better outside of the D.A. She knows that Dennis fancies her, though she only thinks of him as a younger brother, but she doesn’t lead him on and is always friendly to him. She does not actively search for a boyfriend and is in no hurry to find one, she believes that she will find him when the time comes.
How is their family in all of this (muggles excluded)?
Both Susan and her aunt support Dumbledore whole-heartedly. Now that Fudge is out of the Ministry, Amelia Bones does support Arandolf Grevin, she does not agree with him on every subject, but she does think he is a better leader than Fudge. She cannot openly support Dumbledore because of her position, though she does use her influence and information to help Dumbledore out.
