19 days baby!!

Mom's at her first day of work (after the training) and loving it. She's already had one page that went very smoothly.

I finally got my other cat carrier I was trying to find. It's a cheap functional one from petsmart. The bottom is this ugly olive color and the top an oatmeal brown, but the shape is not too bad.-- yes this is a boring topic.. moving on

My TA today made me feel funny today. We had turned in these assignments on population change in major US cities and our sports teams. It was a dumb assignment and I spent like no time on it. I knew we were supposed to get some sources and spend some time with our discussions, but I just pulled mine out of my ass and turned it in. Well she came in today and gave us this big speech about how we all plagerized since we didn't cite anything. I had gotten a very good score on my paper but she had written on it "make sure to cite". Now, this bugged me a lot more than it should've. I would never, under any circumstances, plagerize. I'm not retarded, I'm not going to risk my college career on something as dumb as that. Besides, I'm a very good writer and I have taken so many of these types of classes that my "general" knowledge is quite extensive. So I emailed her back about it and explained that I hadn't plagerized because I hadn't used any outside sources. I did it nicely and with the overtone of "just to let you know for my own peace of mind", but still. I re-read my paper and I could see some spots where someone might think maybe I had made statements of facts without supporting it. Like I mentioned that Arkansas was an economically depressed state. I didn't really back that up, but I know it is. After traveling through it a few years ago to visit my sister I got a good feeling that it just isn't a very prosperous and economically growing state. Also, I mentioned that Austin and Las Vegas were. This could again be seen as something I got from another source, but it was from what I know to be true. My sister lives in Austin and I visited her and was able to see the booming economy. Who doesn't know (that has any business knowledge, that is) that Phoenix, Denver, and Austin are big job markets right now? Of course, a lot of it is the tech industry. But I degress. And lets not ignore the fact that it has only been a few years that all this hype about Las Vegas started. Sure it was a tourist attraction ten years ago but not like it is now. I mean, have you been watching TV? Every other commercial is another ad to go visit Las Vegas. That means their tourism industry is just flourishing right now.-- My point is, that if I have to argue my case as to why I think these facts are facts I can. But it does make me feel funny to think that a TA would not be able to recognize general facts like that from things people plagerize. *Steps off soap box*
