Yes I'm posting yet again today. I have one of those rant/ thoughts that roll around in your brain when you should've gone to bed about an hour ago.
Sometimes I really love Sociology but other times I wish I could just not notice the things I do about society now that I've studied it. Like whenever I watch TV or listen to a song I now notice every little racial and sexist thing about it. Often times it ruins the enjoyment of that song or show for me. As I sat here playing dumb computer games I started thinking about the Disney movie "Beauty and the Beast". Now, if you know me at all, you know I love Disney movies. I adore the music and the quirky simplistic stories that Disney has ripped off someone or other. But I can't help but notice how incredibly sexist they are. For example, in this particular movie the idea about Belle is that she is "peculiar" because she is geeky and reads all the time. But has anyone noticed what kind of books she is reading? No of course you haven't because you aren't cursed with Sociology lol. She is reading ROMANCE novels! So it's okay for her to be quirky and geeky that she reads, but she can't read anything intelligent- that would just be too unsightly for a young lady (despite the fact her dad is an inventor and obviously enjoys science thoroughly).
Anyway, that's just what was going on in my head and thought I'd share. Enjoy.
