[Damas has been poking around the ship at a somewhat leisurely pace since the passenger's glorious return to the Elegante some time ago. His plan was to check the decks to see what had changed, and what had remained the same. He was aware from the ShipNet chatter where some of the dangers were lying, but he was hesitant to check Deck 16 by himself

I am in the process of documenting how much of the ship has returned to normal, and it would be a great help if you were to come with me to Deck 16.

[The word normal could have been used as a pun in that sentence if you listen hard enough.]

I expect, as long as you've been here, you are probably a little more familiar with it than I am.

[Deck 16 isn't exactly a place Jak's very familiar with, but that never stopped him from exploring before.]

[Damas is standing in the stairs, hands grasped behind his back. He appears to be watching a chicken scamper by, clucking in annoyance.]

[Jak climbs down the stairwell, holding up a hand in greeting as he tromps down the last few steps.]

Any idea what we can expect?

[The old king nods his greeting.]

Well, there is the issue of--

[He's interrupted by a loud "BOK!" as the gravity shifts, sending the chicken flying from the floor to a wall. She ruffles her feathers in great disdain. Damas' frown deepens.]

...that.

[Jak blinks, then raises an eyebrow. Wordlessly, he steps around his father to peer out into the hallway.]

A chicken? I don't see--

[WHUD. The gravity shifts 90 degrees, and Jak's eyes widen.]

That was unexpected.

[Damas just looks mildly vexed and talks over another squawk as the gravity shifts in the middle of one of his sentences.]

The issue of the gravity, and checking the doors. Unfortunately, there are a considerable number of those.

My goal is to have a comprehensive list of what exactly is safe on the Elegante, and what should be avoided at all costs.

That's gonna be a long list.

[Setting a hand on the door frame, Jak waits for another shift in gravity before jumping out into the hallway. The first door he checks is painted onto the wall.]

[Damas doesn't bother to clarify what he meant, he just follows Jak after the next gravity shift. Standing on the wall, he moves ahead at a brisk pace to reach the next door before gravity shifts-- another painted on.]

Certainly they're not all painted.

[Whoops, gravity works! Damas slides onto the ceiling as gravity shifts again.]

[Jak tugs another door.]

This one's stuck.

[He sighs and kicks it.]

You think they're all fake?

[Damas grabs the one next to it before the shift and-- the knob turns.]

Apparently not.

[He tugs it open.]

[SPROING!

Out leap dozens of fake snakes, bouncing all over the place and showering Damas like confetti. They're so pretty and colorful.

A moment later, they melt away into nothing, leaving the room cloaked in shadow and apparently empty, except for a quiet moaning sound.]

[Jak instinctively raises his hands to protect his face as the paper toys spring out from the door.]

Cute.

[His ears twitch at the soft noise though.]

You hear that?

[Damas does not so much as blink at the onslaught of adorable fake snakes, he just stares blankly into the room. He almost wants to ask if that's all when the moan comes.]

I did.

[He looks to Jak, and nods his head towards the room.]

Let's go.

[Jak follows Damas inside wordlessly, brushing a hand over the wall to find a light switch.]
