This afternoon, I bought some meatballs from the Safeway deli for part of my lunch. I've had these meatballs several times before, and they are so good. According to the label, they are honey garlic flavoured. Well, when I put one in my mouth and bit down, I gagged and had to spit it out into the garbage as it tasted so disgusting (but not as disgusting as the rotten cheese, of course). They must have put the wrong sauce on; instead of honey garlic, they put on BBQ sauce, and I hate BBQ sauce. I just can't stand the flavour, or smell, of BBQ sauce. (The meatballs also very strongly smelled of BBQ sauce.)

Now, the meatballs weren't cheap--they're priced by weight, and they're one of the heavier deli items, and I spent $5.50 on a small tub of meatballs that I couldn't even eat. So on my afternoon coffee break, I went back to the Safeway and returned them. I was surprised that they didn't hassle me because you can't really return a deli item, but this wasn't a case of me simply not caring for them; they put on the wrong sauce, thus I could not eat them, without puking. I know accidents happen, but what if someone were allergic to something in the BBQ sauce, and bought them thinking they were honey garlic meatballs, as indicated on the label?

nasty food surprises
