What, no ball pit?
Apparently, UBC is planning on building indoor slides in the student union building:

This has got to be the one of the stupidest things I have ever heard in my life. What the fuck?! Not only is it a huge waste of money ("When you look at it in a personal way, $50,000 is a lot, but when you think of the $105-million price tag, it's less than .0005 per cent of the total cost." *rolls eyes* She should go into politics...), but how can this even work?!
First, how could you slide down with a backpack, or while carrying an armload of books or a coffee? You can bet some moron with a coffee will attempt to slide down, spilling it everywhere (and I have my doubts that this slide will be regularly cleaned--how can you even properly clean it?!) Second, your clothing would probably rip or get dirty, and you could not slide down while wearing a skirt or dress. Third, it's an accident just waiting to happen.
I'm no longer a student at UBC (thank fucking goodness--this is an embarrassment), but personally, I'd rather have them spend money on tables and chairs and power outlets for laptops, than a fucking hamster tube slide. Jesus christ, this is fucking ridiculous. I can't even.
