Today I spent the entire day inside. My landlords are re-doing their roof, so there was debris everywhere, some blocking my door for a while. As inconvenient as it was, I didn't mind so much (although Simon was dying to go out), as I didn't have any plans to go anywhere, plus, it was cooler in my place, even with the windows closed (I had to keep the windows closed because of dust from the construction). Outside, it was 32.9C, and indoors, according to the thermometer on my space heater (which I turned o for five seconds just to check the temperature), it was 25C in my suite.
Anyway, I'm watching the news right now, and of course the top news story was about the heat, and the traffic. Apparently, today, the skytrain shut down, and people had to wait in the sweltering heat for at least half an hour. Thank fucking goodness I stayed in! And a guy from Translink said that they aren't sure why the skytrain was down, and that they can't guarantee that this won't happen again. Fuck you, Translink.
Also on the news, regarding the traffic, they said that there is concern about Critical Mass (whatever that annoying bike group is called), blocking traffic again on the Lion's Gate Bridge on Friday, as people are trying to leave for the long weekend. That pisses me off--blocking traffic. Yeah, yeah, biking is better for the environment, but fuck you! Be respectful towards people who use the roads. Bikers complain about bad drivers, well, why don't you show them the same respect that you want drivers to show you? And for that matter, get off the fucking sidewalk, or at the very least, do not run pedestrians over! I can't count the number of times that some asshole cyclist nearly ran me over on the sidewalk, even when I made sure to walk at the very edge to give them space, and not zig-zag in front of them. Oh, and cyclists seem to believe that stop signs don't apply to them. Fuck you. I hate cyclists. Oh, and I can't stand cyclists on the skytrains who bring bikes into the aisle, or who don't even make an effort to move out of the fucking way as you are trying to get off the train!
