This morning I had my stats final, my last final exam of the semester! I have no idea how badly well I did, however, on the midterm I left many questions blank and had no idea how to do anything, yet ended up with 52% (without scaling), so I should be OK on the final, since I kind of understood a few things. We'll see. Funnily enough, the questions I felt most confident on, and where I will probably get the majority of my marks, was some of the newer material, which I spent only a few minutes looking over, and never practiced. And this material, I only just learned how to do it on Wednesday and yesterday evening.

There was one question that I should have understood how to do, but I got confused on what was being asked and how to do it, so I couldn't finish it. The question asked us to compare a patient's average number of white blood cells to the average of the population, and conclude whether or not the patient should "have further testing done", using the appropriate hypothesis test, etc. According to the question, the average number of white blood cells is 7200/mL, and the patient's average was 1200/mL. As I mentioned, I got stuck and couldn't answer the question, but I couldn't resist writing, "Yes, I think the patient should have further testing done. If your CD4 T-helper cell count is less than 20%, you have AIDS!" I may not get marks for that, but hopefully it will amuse the TA who is marking my exam.
