Today I called Dave about something, and he asked if I was going to his dad's place tomorrow night for Easter dinner. I replied, ""Um...I wasn't invited...?" and Dave said, "Oh, yeah, you're invited; I guess I was supposed to tell you!" *rolls eyes* (This is typical Dave!) I asked him if I really had been invited, and he said, "Oh, yeah, you were. I remember my dad asking if you were coming." But to be on the safe side I emailed his dad, and he said that I was indeed welcome.

Actually, I had been wondering what was happening with Easter. For the past four years (which includes the past year that Dave and I have been broken up), I've spent nearly every holiday with Dave's family ( obviously I missed out on Easter last year), as well as numerous family dinners, some even without Dave there! I was pretty sure that this year Dave's mom wouldn't be having an Easter dinner, as she mentioned that she was planning on going to the island to visit her sister for Easter (she did). But knowing Dave's dad, I figured that he would invite Dave (and thus me) over for a meal, so I was a little surprised that I hadn't heard anything, but then again, I can't presume that his family is going to have a holiday meal (at this point, it's pretty safe to assume that if they have a holiday meal, I'm invited). Well, just as I figured, Dave's dad is having an Easter dinner, and I'm invited.

Speaking about family dinners, several weeks ago, on a Wednesday afternoon while I was in class, I got a phone call from Dave's family. After class I checked my messages, and was surprised that it was Dave's oldest sister, who lives in the States. Apparently, she had been able to arrange, at the last minute, a trip up to Vancouver, and she was only staying for a few days (I think she had gotten in on Monday night), and wanted to know if I was free for coffee on Thursday morning, or if I was free that evening to go over for a family dinner. Unfortunately I had to bail on vie5 who was going to help me de-flea (I'm not the kind of person who bails on people when "something better" comes up, but this was my only opportunity to see Dave's sister), but I was able to make it to dinner. It was more than just a casual family dinner, as they also invited Dave's cousin and his new wife (who I have met before--I've met a lot of their family, at least the ones who live in BC), something they have been wanting to do for a while, but hadn't had the chance to because everyone has busy schedules. So it was nice that they included me in such a special family dinner! (I was the only "non-family member" there.)
