Over the past two weeks I had my first midterm in all my classes: calculus on my birthday October 2nd (at 8:30am!), and cell biology and organic chemistry on October 10th, at 8am and 2pm, respectively (yeah, now that was a fun day, with a couple of small quizzes thrown in for added fun during the math tutorial ( Read more... )

It's funny how getting that A- is so much better than a B+!! 81% is definitely a respectable grade. The second grading scheme is what UBC uses.

Yeah, my teacher mentioned UBC. So at UBC, an A+ is >90%, etc? Is that so just for some courses, for sciences, or for all?

All the courses I've ever taken use that scale, although it may be different for some Faculties. But I'm sure all the courses you will take will use the >90/A+, 89-85 = A, and 80-84 = A- (don't even ask me what the other grades are, 'coz we only get A's right!!)

I did get a C in calculus (and B's in physics), but yeah, I don't really know what the % is for anything under an A-.
