My husband and I just got home less than half-an-hour ago, and I have already had to phone the police. At 12:05am, we opened the fire door that leads to our section of the hallway, and immediately, we could feel and hear intense and loud vibrations, coming from the assholes next door in 102 (last night/this morning, it was the assholes above, in 203). We walked into our suite, and our entire suite was shaking and overpowered by the noise. I blew a spazz, and we angrily marched over to the building manager's suite. She actually answered her door, and we told her the problem. She then starts yelling at us to stop harassing her and leave her alone, or she would phone the police on us. We angrily told her that what is going on is unacceptable, and to do something about it. She said (when I write "said," I mean "yelled") "Why do you harass and phone me every night?!" and I said, "Because the noise happens every night!"
OK, if I were her, I would be annoyed if someone phoned/wrote to me nearly ever day about noise in neighbouring suites, but she has two options: kick out the noisy assholes, or allow us to move without all this bullshit about having to pay $1000 for not giving official notice in time. Well, she has made it quite clear that she won't consider option #2, so as long as the noisy assholes are making noise, I will phone and write to her. See how she likes to be disturbed every single fucking day!
Anyway, my husband and I were arguing with her for a few minutes, and she kept on threatening to call the police on us (what fucking bullshit). Finally, she agreed to come and check it out. But, when we opened the fire door, there was no noise, so of course she didn't believe us, and thought we were just causing trouble for fun. (Sorry, bitch, I'm not an uneducated, toothless, Surrey white-trash hooligan who likes to make trouble for others, just for kicks. I'm a hard-working, bill-paying, quiet Vancouver girl). But she went and knocked on 102's door, and one of the white-trash assholes answered. She asked if they had been blasting music, and WTA denied it, of course.
I spazzed at WTA, telling him that we had heard and felt it the second we opened the fire door. He then tried to make up an excuse. "We had only been watching a movie, which just ended." If that's true, I'm thrilled that it is now over, and therefore quiet, but there is absolutely no fucking need for anyone to have their TV that loud. It was at an incredibly dangerous level. Also, what if I had been home? Then I would have had to put up with it for the entire evening, which is unacceptable. This is why I am afraid to come 'home' after work. I hate the idea of going home, and spending hours having to put up with that crap. Also, I am afraid of going to bed at night, and having to deal with the assholes upstairs.
Even though the noise/shaking had stopped, I phoned the police anyway, just so there would be a record. The dispatcher said that because the noise had stopped, there was no need for them to come, but to record this incident in a log (I almost laughed at that; if she only knew that my log is now nearly 8 pages long). I forgot to mention this to the dispatcher, but I now feel somewhat threatened from the WTA's next door (and possibly from upstairs). Not necessarily threatened that I may be physically harmed (except for burst eardrums), but threatened that they may now retaliate by blasting their music and trying to make our lives a living hell (this is what 217 did to us in the condo that we bought).
I am going to look into suing the company that manages this building. After tonight, the building manager proved that she can't, and won't, do her job.
