On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I have to go to the Douglas College campus in Coquitlam for my math class, as the times it was offered at the New West campus conflicted with my chemistry and physics classes. My math class starts at 4:30pm, but on Thursday, I arrived early, as I was getting bored at home, and study much better at school than at home.

Around 3pm, I got off the bus at my stop in Coquitlam, and was just about to cross the street and head towards the school. As I approached the intersection, I saw a girl crossing the street, walking in my direction, and hit happened to be Juli, Dave's middle sister. She also goes to Douglas College, the Coquitlam campus, and she was on a break, walking to a cafe to get a bite to eat. So I joined her and got a coffee, and we had a nice time chatting.

I told her about the flowers that Dave gave me for my birthday, and she said that Dave had been so excited, and proud, that he had remembered my birthday (Cindy had said the same thing, and so did Dave, when I saw him on Tuesday). We both thought it was pretty cute how he had been so excited, and Juli said that Dave remembering my birthday and making an effort to do something special means that he really cares about me, and that he's "head over heels" for me.

I spent Thursday night at Dave's and told him about my conversation with Juli, and he replied, in such a shy, cute way, "I really like you a lot." He also said that while he could have gotten me the cliche bouquet of roses or a $15 bouquet of nice, but regular flowers at Safeway or something, he wanted to get me something really special. He's such a sweetie!

Dave is really lazy and rarely makes an effort at anything (he fully admits this), let alone doing something for someone else, so him making a big effort for my birthday is quite significant. Remembering my birthday and buying me flowers may not seem like a big deal, but it is. You can't compare Dave's level of effort to other people's, as they would never compare, but comparing this act to his usual self, you can see how significant the act is.
